Hi! I need help with a desk I’m buying for my apartment. It’s the Leick Stratus writing/computer desk, and I’d like to have it prepped and painted. I want the desk painted Benjamin Moore Mysterious AF-565, which is a very dark, inky blue/navy-black. Ideally I’d like Benjamin Moore Advance Interior Paint in Satin. If you’re not able to use Benjamin Moore products, that’s totally fine I’d just want to find the closest possible color and finish to Benjamin Moore Mysterious AF-565, rather than switching to a brighter or more traditional navy. I’m looking for a really smooth, high-end furniture finish not distressed, chalky, farmhouse-style, or visibly brushy. I want it to look like the desk originally came professionally finished in that color. For prep, I’d like the desk: * cleaned/degreased thoroughly * lightly scuff-sanded/deglossed, not aggressively stripped, since it has wood/cherry veneer * primed with a good bonding primer * lightly sanded after primer as needed for a smooth finish * finished with 2 thin, even coats in a satin furniture/cabinet-type finish Please do not sand through the veneer or intentionally expose any of the original wood. I also don’t want paint on the drawer slides, hinges, keyboard-tray mechanisms, cable openings, or other moving/contact areas. I’d like the existing antique-brass hardware removed before painting and reinstalled afterward. If you have a paint sprayer and are comfortable spraying furniture, that would be my preference because I want the smoothest possible finish. If not, just let me know how you’d recommend applying it to get a very clean, professional result without obvious brush or roller marks. Or what is best because this will be in my apartment I can purchase the paint and primer ahead of time if that’s easier, or if you normally provide/pick up supplies, just let me know what you’d need from me. Also let me know if you can paint the desk after final assembly.
