Hello, My name is Brooklyn, I am 16 years old and am a current Year 10 student at Christian College Geelong (Senior Campus). Unfortunately last year due to health reasons I had the majority of the year away from school. As someone who has struggled with Math's even prior to last year being away from school for a considerable amount of time has certainly not benefited my transition into Math's in Senior School. I would consider myself to be a conscientious, dedicated and hardworking student and despite my difficulties in Maths I would love to continue it through to the end of my schooling in Year 12 however, I feel this will be achievable with the support of a tutor to guide me and be there to support be through the rest of my schooling and a tutor who can guide me through the bigger picture of maths (the reasoning behind working out questions) and how it connects to real life (numeracy). Whilst in Senior School we are using calculators more frequently I find that I am someone who to fully understand what we are learning I need to know the reasoning behind what I am typing in on my calculator not just how to get the answer through the use of a calculator. Whilst online tutoring sessions are convenient through experience I feel I learn better when working face-to-face so tutoring session in person would be wonderful if possible! As I have only re-commenced school again this year, with the support of my school I am currently undertaking a reduced timetable of Maths, English and an accelerated subject being Health and Human Development so I have quite a few spare periods in the day at school most days so would be able to be quite flexible with tutoring times and days. It would be wonderful to connect with someone who is able to adapt their teaching techniques to best suit me and the way I learn, and someone who is patient, understanding and willing to focus on current topics I am learning as well as past topics.
