I need an experienced NSW consumer lawyer/solicitor specialising in Australian Consumer Law (ACL), defective motor vehicles and NCAT. I purchased a near-new/demo 2025 MG HS and have experienced multiple recurring safety and drivability faults, including: Serious jerking while driving Gear selector/transmission problems Braking concerns/noises Reverse-camera faults Electrical/infotainment faults Other intermittent defects The vehicle has been inspected by an authorised MG repairer multiple times, but I was repeatedly told “No Fault Found.” The transmission/gear problem became serious enough for the vehicle to be towed. The jerking fault then reoccurred shortly after the vehicle was returned. I have extensive evidence, including videos, photographs, emails, repair records, odometer evidence, a detailed chronology and an independent MTA inspection/report. I am seeking a Victorian lawyer experienced in Australian Consumer Law (ACL) and VCAT consumer disputes, preferably with experience in defective used-vehicle claims, to provide targeted legal advice before I lodge a VCAT application. I purchased a used vehicle from a licensed Victorian motor car trader for $5,490. Significant mechanical symptoms developed within nine days of collection, followed shortly afterwards by catastrophic internal engine failure after only 971 km of use. I have an independent Subaru assessment, RACV diagnostic records, pre-sale servicing/RWC documentation, correspondence with the dealer, a detailed chronology and Schedule of Losses. The dealer has rejected my settlement proposal and disputes liability. I intend to self-represent at VCAT and am not seeking ongoing representation. I need a lawyer to review my proposed application and evidence and advise on: * merits and prospects of the claim; * appropriate ACL provisions, particularly ss 54, 259, 260, 262 and 263; * remedies/orders I should seek; * whether my application and particulars are properly framed; * whether my existing mechanical evidence is sufficient or further expert evidence is advisable; * the effect of the dealer’s previous engine-replacement offer on major failure, rejection and mitigation; * consequential losses under s 259(4); * whether/how I should formally reject the vehicle; and * any evidentiary, legal or procedural weaknesses to address before filing. Deliverable: Review of my documents and draft VCAT application, followed by a consultation providing legal advice and recommended amendments before filing. Requirements: Must be a current Australian legal practitioner. Strong preference for a Victorian lawyer with demonstrated ACL, VCAT and motor-vehicle consumer dispute experience.
