I’m hosting my 40th birthday party in my backyard and looking for a great DJ who understands the music of our era. The crowd will be mostly late 30s / early 40s, so I’m after someone who really knows the 90s and 2000s — but not just mainstream hits. Expecting around 100 people. I grew up listening to Triple J (back when it wasn't cool and was actually good!) and now its pretty much Double J all the way, so have fairly alternative music tastes, so ideally you’re comfortable mixing classic bangers with indie/alternative tracks from that era. I’ve put together Spotify playlists to give a sense of the vibe, but I’m really looking for someone who can read the room — knowing when people want dancefloor bangers and when it’s more background party vibes. Party will start at 7pm but we have someone playing live acoustic music until 8:30pm so DJ needed from then until around 12 - 12:30am (approx. 4 hours but would be open to staying on if the party is still going) You will need to bring your own basic DJ setup / speakers (Not a vinyl setup) Looking for someone who enjoys this kind of music and can help make it a really fun night rather than just pressing play on a playlist. Please include a bit about your style, any sample mixes, and what equipment you provide.

Cruise lasts 4 hrs from 12-4pm. Need a DJ. Ages vary from 30s to 60. Most 45 to 55 y/0. It’s Anzac Day and my birthday. Suggest coastal/pool/house chill early on, moving into some 80s/90s hits to crank it up a bit. Then into newer songs and sped up older classics. But leave to DJ to “read the room” and adjust accordingly and not play a pre-determined playlist to meet the brief. 45 attendees. Happy to discuss further.
