Why hire a pet grooming expert through Airtasker?

When you can’t give your precious pet a proper bath and thorough grooming, book an expert groomer on Airtasker. Animal grooming isn’t only for appearance but is vital to your pet’s health and hygiene. Matted fur should be removed, as these cause pain, discomfort and can cause serious health issues. Amphibian or reptile pets need proper skincare as they age, grow and shed their old skin.

Make a detailed post on Airtasker, describing what sort of pet they are and the grooming they need. List your address, your schedule and budget. Remember to include your pet’s name so your groomer can get properly acquainted! Qualified groomers near you will give you a free quote. Once you agree on the budget, they go to your location to groom your pet, and you pay afterwards.

Don’t wait for your furry friend to have matted fur, reptiles or amphibians to get skin problems, or other exotic pets to have health issues. Use that pink button to hire an expert and give your pets the grooming they need!

Top Pet Grooming related questions

Usually, no. Your hired pet groomers have all the tools and equipment to do their craft, along with the necessary skills and experience. Some have been practising pet grooming for decades, so they’ll know which tools work best for them and are the safest for your pet. What you can provide are any toys, their favourite dog food or whatever food that’s appropriate, or treats that can help keep them calm while grooming or as a reward given afterwards.

That depends on a variety of factors: the kind of pet you have, their size, and the demands of the job. If your precious pooch or pussycat has a lot of overgrown and matted fur, the pet grooming service can take at most two hours to trim, bathe, dry and groom them. A lizard or snake that needs a bath or a bird that needs its feathers and beak trimmed can take at most an hour to complete.

Absolutely. If you run a pet grooming service and find yourself short-handed, you can hire Taskers to boost your workforce. Be as specific as possible in your job posting and mention what your grooming services are about to attract Taskers with the required skills and experience. Make sure to include all the important details to avoid any misunderstanding and to ensure Taskers know what’s expected of them.

Yes, but only if you have the right tools, knowledge and experience in grooming the breed. Grooming a dog takes more than having a dog grooming kit and knowing how to use it. You must know which cleaning products to use, how to trim its fur right, and trim its nails without cutting the quick - all without causing them harm or undue stress. If all this proves difficult, we recommend hiring an expert pet groomer near you on Airtasker.

Sure! You can find exotic pet groomers on Airtasker. Whether you have a turtle, parrot, ferret or other exotic pet, you can hire an expert groomer near you by posting on our platform. Please list all the crucial information, including a description of your exotic pet, your schedule, budget and the grooming they need. Local exotic pet groomers will approach you with an offer, and they’ll go to your location to groom your exotic pet after you’ve agreed on the budget.

Yes, we do! You can hire the best groomers for your rabbit on our platform. As with finding groomers for dogs, cats or other exotic pets, make a post to hire a groomer for your beloved bunny. Mention their size, breed, and what sort of grooming your bunny needs. Expert rabbit groomers near you will make you an offer, and once you’ve agreed on the budget, they’ll go to you and give your rabbit the royal treatment.

What do pet grooming services include?

More than a haircut for dogs or cats, pet grooming services include all the tasks necessary to make your dog, cat, pet bird, lizard or other exotic pet looking their best and in some cases, smelling good. As a service that’s part of pet care, this can include pre-grooming services like brushing the fur, clipping overgrown fur or feathers whenever applicable.

This service can also include bathing and shampooing your pet, followed by drying them then trimming nails, claws, or beak when applicable. Your groomer cleans out the ears and paws if needed, all while keeping their safety and comfort in mind.

Pre-grooming

Your groomer brushes their hair to loosen any matted or bunched-up clumps of fur. Next, they trim the overgrown fur with electric clippers while your pet is placed in a comfortable sitting or standing position. This is a full-body trim to remove long and severely matted fur and prepare your pet for bathing. For reptiles or amphibians, your groomer wipes any dirt or debris off them before they are placed in a bath.

Bathing your pet

If your cat or dog is a short-haired breed or doesn’t need fur trimming, your groomer proceeds with the bath. A restraining collar or harness is fitted on your pet to keep them calm and still. Your groomer may apply a hypoallergenic facial scrub and rinse your pet with warm water. The groomer takes care not to get any water into your pet’s ears or nose as their muzzle gets scrubbed and rinsed.

Next, your groomer scrubs your pet with hypoallergenic shampoo, then rinses it off. They may follow up with another good scrub of a fur conditioning product, rinsing this off as well. To finish the bath, your pet gets a full-body rinse with lukewarm water, gets brushed with a grooming comb, then rinsed with cool water to wash off all the shampoo and conditioner.

For reptiles or amphibians, your groomer can give them a soak or spray bath of conditioning fluid to maintain their skin and help loosen the skin they shed. Your pet lizard or amphibian is allowed to soak in a small tub for a few minutes to absorb the nutrients in the bath.

Drying your pet

Once your pet has been scrubbed clean, groomers will proceed to dry them. They can use towels, hairdryers or a combination of both to dry off your furry pets gently. For reptiles and amphibians, they can dry them off by gently dabbing them with towels.

Final touches

After your pet is dried off, groomers can apply finishing touches like trimming their nails and fur for a more even coat (even trimming the feathers, claws or beak when applicable). Some groomers may apply perfume or scent specially formulated for your pet.Â
