Top Flooring related questions
No. Taskers can bring professional tools like drills, saws, chalk lines, utility knives, and other essential equipment to provide you with a reliable flooring service. If you have your own tools and you're more comfortable using them, you can also lend them to your Tasker. Just make sure to make the necessary arrangements with them beforehand.
Aside from the size of your room or house, it also depends on the flooring type. Vinyl flooring is the least intensive and the quickest flooring to install, which can only take at least five hours. Laminate flooring can take a day, then two days for carpeting.
Hardwood floor installation can be labour intensive and can take days to weeks. It's important to remember that floor installation also includes acclimation and finishing.
It depends on the foot traffic and how often you maintain your flooring. With proper upkeep, hardwood and tile flooring can last years. You can get 50 years out of your vinyl flooring, while your carpet and vinyl flooring can last up to 10-20 years. It's vital to clean and take care of your flooring regularly so you can maximise their benefits and reduce the need for floor replacements.
It depends on your needs and where you're planning to install your flooring. You might want to consider durable options like ceramic, laminate, or plank vinyl, especially if you have any pets and little kids. If you'd like to install new floors for your kitchen or bathroom, you also need to consider flooring that is good for high- or medium-moisture environments, such as vinyl or ceramic, or concrete.
Ceramic tiles are popular for their durability and versatility. They're also an ideal option for bathrooms, kitchens, entryways, and laundry rooms. Hardwood is another well-loved option because of its ability to transform any space aesthetically in an instant.
Since hardwood is a bit pricey, others opt to use laminate flooring as it can mimic any hardwood style. Carpet flooring's warmth and softness is also a popular choice for bedrooms. Lastly, vinyl is popular for high-traffic areas because it's durable and moisture-resistant.
This decision depends on your preferences and your existing home decor. You can choose to use the same flooring to create a more cohesive look or different ones for practicality. When you do the latter, make sure to do it at existing barriers like walls and dividers. The most important thing is to match your flooring with the existing patterns, colours, and materials you have in your home.
The average cost of flooring services varies depending on factors such as the type of flooring chosen, the size of the area, and the complexity of the installation. On average, homeowners can expect to pay between €20 to €50 per square meter for professional flooring services. This range encompasses a variety of flooring options, including laminate, vinyl, hardwood, and carpet. Additional costs may apply for preparation work, removal of old flooring, and any customization or intricate patterns.
Top Floor Polishing related questions
It depends on the stone floor type, stone density, and foot traffic. Ideally, polishing your stone floors should be done regularly, either quarterly or biannually. It can also be done as needed, especially if there’s already too many scratches or too many abrasive particles like sand or grit, causing your stone floor to have a hazy, blurry, or dull appearance.
You can, but hiring a professional is more convenient. Instead of doing the job yourself, floor polishing experts can save you some precious time and money in the long run. They have extensive knowledge about floor polishing that can ensure flawless work in a shorter amount of time. Besides this, your household items may do more harm than good to your stone floors, so better rely on your Tasker’s appropriate polishing materials instead.
No. Taskers carry their own set of tools for them to be able to deliver a high-quality floor polishing and cleaning service. They are equipped with polishing vacuums, buffing machines, buffing pads, and other tools and supplies. But if you have those on hand and you prefer to use them, you can easily have it arranged or coordinated with your Tasker!
It all depends on the size of the area, how polished you want it to be, and your floors’ current condition. Generally, floor polishing can take two to three days. After that, you have to wait for at least 24 hours before walking on your newly-polished floors. Keep in mind that in 24 to 48 hours, it’s highly recommended that you wear socks to protect your new finish.
All kinds of spills can cause damage to your stone floor, so they need to be cleaned immediately to avoid permanent staining. Natural stone floors can be damaged by acidic liquids such as pet urine, coffee, wine, juice, and milk. When cleaning off spills, be sure to only absorb them by dabbing soft cloth or tissue onto the stain. You don’t want to wipe them as this can spread the stain to the other parts of your floor.
Floor polishing services need to use some equipment that can cause low-level noise and disruptions. You can have your schedule arranged with your Tasker, so they can come into your house and do the job at a time where there are minimal people around. This way, your daily activities at home will not be disrupted. Your Tasker can also make sure no mess will be left behind as soon as they’re done.
Top Floor Refinishing related questions
The cost of having hardwood floors refinished depends heavily on the coverage of the job. Refinishing the flooring of a typical 3-bedroom home would be pricey since it requires sanding, refinishing, and polishing. It would be best to ask your Tasker on rate specifics inclusive of materials estimates.
This would largely depend on the floor area that needs the treatment and the finishing you’d opt for. Some finishes dry quickly, while others may take a while, often requiring multiple coats. Some finishes may only require a simple covering too. It is best to discuss project specifics with your Tasker to manage expectations in terms of timing.
These are eight options that your Taskers might be capable of using: water-based polyurethane, oil-based polyurethane, moisture-cure urethane, wax, shellac, penetrating oil sealers, acid-cured finishes, and aluminium oxide finishes. These options vary in terms of durability, odor, amount of volatile compounds, and ideal application areas, among others. You may consult with your Tasker to get recommendations on the best options for your wood floors.
Garage floors tend to be made of concrete, and those have different finishing options. You can have your floors stained or painted, or covered with epoxy, tiles, or mats. Any of these finishing options will require a thorough restoration of the concrete floor before application to avoid premature damage. You may also discuss more options in detail with your Tasker if you’re unsure which finish to apply to your garage.
At least in the case of hardwood floors, it’s worth having them refinished since it’s more convenient overall. It costs less money, is quicker to do, and is less wasteful than a total flooring replacement. It’s a less daunting undertaking, too, if you simply want to give your hardwood floors a fresh, new look without breaking the bank. Plus, it presents an opportunity to repair potential weak points that could spread damage.
If the finish requires drying, the best time to have your floors refinished is when the indoor and outdoor temperatures are more consistent with each other. This occurs typically during the fall or spring seasons. However, this home maintenance measure is doable at any time during the year. This is also something that you can count Taskers to work around on as needed.

What do flooring services include?
Professional flooring installation means more than just a floor that looks good. Your flooring contractor will make sure your floors are safe, slip-free, and will last decades by using the best preparation and installation methods. Some popular flooring options include: Concrete flooring Concrete floors are becoming more popular for their durability - not just in garages and sheds, but inside the home, as well.
Concrete Floors
A concrete flooring professional can install new concrete floors, or change the look of your existing floors with concrete polishing and epoxy coatings to add colour and texture to your floor. Depending on what you need done, they may work with concrete, a mixer, a grinder, and floor polish or epoxy to protect and seal the floor.
Carpet
When installing carpets, you’ll first need the old carpet removed. Carpet removal can be a dusty, heavy job, so your carpet specialist will use crowbars to lift the carpet and knives to cut the carpet into sections. They’ll wear durable gloves to protect their hands when they lift and roll the carpet. If the insulation or underfelt is in good condition, you may be able to lay the new carpet directly on top. Your contractor will measure out the right size for your new carpet, before cutting it out and rolling it in place. They’ll use a knee kicker to push the carpet firmly into the edges and corners of your room, trimming the excess carpet.
Floorboards
While timber floorboards might be a higher maintenance option, floating floors come with many benefits, with a huge range of styles. And they’re relatively easy to repair if one board gets chipped or damaged. Your flooring contractor can advise you on environmentally friendly options, such as bamboo and cork floorboards, as well. Floorboard installation starts with clearing the area before wooden struts are positioned to create a framework for the boards to sit on. At this point, you can choose to install soundproof insulation under your bamboo floorboards or timber floorboards to help reduce noise. Then your contractor will install your timber floorboards over the wooden struts. Once your new floor is installed, you can keep it looking it’s best with regular polishing and refinishing.
Tiled floors
Tiles are popular for bathroom flooring, or throughout the whole house for easy cleaning. Tile floor installation involves laying marble, stone, or ceramic tiles on the floor. When installing tiles, your flooring professional will usually first remove the existing flooring. This may require tools such as a jackhammer or a chisel and hammer to break up and lift the old tiles. Then they’ll prepare the area with adhesives and concrete, before laying the tiles. Once the adhesive has set, your tiler will apply grout in the gaps between each tile, creating a waterproof surface.
Laminate, vinyl & linoleum flooring
Getting your vinyl, linoleum, or laminate floors professionally installed usually starts with removing any old floor coverings and skirting boards. Laminate flooring is usually easy to remove but may require chemical solvents, depending on the adhesives used. Once the area is cleared, the floors will be levelled and prepared with any underlay and insulation required. At this stage, your flooring contractor may add in things like waterproofing or underfloor heating. Your flooring contractor %location% will use their tools to lay the floor, usually working from the corner furthest from the door, making sure the area is level, square, and plumb as they go.
