What does upholstery cleaning include?
When you book upholstery cleaning, your cleaner will arrive at your home and use either steam cleaning (hot water extraction) or dry powder cleaning to restore your fabric furniture items. The preferred technique and products will depend on the fabric type, how dirty it is, the age of the fabric, and the type of stains. Your cleaner will recommend the approach that’s best for you.
Here’s what you can expect from the process, depending on what type of upholstery you need to be cleaned:
Couches and sofas
Having your couch professionally steam cleaned can give it a new lease of life, and remove stains, smells, and dust. Your local upholstery cleaner will remove all the cushions and vacuum the couch to remove any dust in the crevices. They will then apply the cleaning agent, leaving it to soak in and draw out the dirt particles. Once the agents have fully processed, your upholstery steam cleaner will vacuum or steam mop all surfaces and replace the cushions. If your couch has been steam cleaned, it may need several hours to dry before you can use it again.
Stain removal
If you’ve invested in a light coloured couch and have kids or pets at home, you’re probably on high alert for stains on your fabric furniture. An upholstery cleaner can easily remove stains from your fabrics using specialist chemicals to suit the stain and fabric type. Your cleaner will start by applying the chemicals to break down the stain without damaging the fabric. They’ll then remove the chemicals with a vacuum or cloths and clean the rest of the furniture. Your upholstery cleaning professional can also apply stain and water repellant products that will help liquids pool on the surface, so you have more time to clean spills before they soak in.
Fabric bed frames
Fabric bed heads and frames can be sneaky dust and mould magnets, harbouring dust mites that can trigger allergies and asthma. Usually, these areas are cleaned with hot water extraction (steam cleaning), which pumps hot water into the fabric, killing bacteria, fungus, and dust mites. The extraction machine pulls these out of the fabric, along with the hot water. While you’re having your bedhead cleaned, consider getting your mattresses, pillows, fabric ottomans, carpets, and drapes professionally steam cleaned at the same time.
Car Upholstery
Car upholstery can take a beating. From wet dogs, kids and their messes to plain messy liquid spills - a professional car upholstery cleaner can have your seats smelling fresh again in no time.
