I’m looking for a studio engineer or experienced Cubase user who can help me set up my home recording system and troubleshoot an issue with my microphone input. I’ve used this setup before, but it’s been a long time, so please treat me like a complete beginner when explaining things. My current setup: Rode condenser microphone Steinberg UR22 MKII audio interface Cubase 12 installed on PC The issue: The microphone appears to be connected and active, but Cubase isn’t picking up any real gain or audio signal, even when the gain knob on the interface is turned all the way up. The DAW appears to detect the mic input, but the levels barely move. I’ve already tried quite a bit of troubleshooting with no success. There’s also a chance the XLR cable might be faulty, so it would be helpful if you could bring a spare XLR cable to test. What I need help with: Diagnosing and fixing the microphone input issue Ensuring my interface and Cubase are set up correctly Setting up a simple vocal recording template in Cubase 12 A quick walkthrough of the basics so I can comfortably record vocals myself This should be a straightforward job for someone experienced with Cubase and home studio setups. Looking at capturing footage possibly before the event itself, maybe at a local park with the bridal party and then at the venue booked for the actual event which will consist of around 130 ppl. 5-6 hrs total is how long the job would last.
