One of internal door handle has come off and I want it replaced I will buy the handle need help to get it installed

One of the window locks in my home is broken (see attached photo). The locking mechanism no longer secures properly. I need someone to: - Inspect the existing lock. - Repair it if possible or replace it with a similar style lock. - Ensure the window is secure and functional. Install Bunnings digital entry lock on side gate. - Due date: Flexible

A friend installed a Lockwood 002 Dead Latch, I think he made the hole too big so he put a metal plate behind the round lock open with a key, the outside of the door entry side is where this plate is. It looks terrible and he put screws on outside so anyone can unscrew and remove lock defeating the purpose. The door may need to be filled where the hole is too big, I am not certain would need someone that can remove this plate and ensure lock secure.
