Description: I need someone experienced with older smoke alarm / alarm panel systems to inspect and diagnose a fault in my house. One ceiling smoke alarm has been intermittently chirping, and the frequency is getting worse. It started at around once every 30 to 60 minutes, and now it is about once every 10 minutes. When it chirps, the central alarm panel also sounds and the fire light comes on, so the detector and panel appear to be linked. This does not seem to be a simple battery replacement job. It looks like an older hard-wired linked system with a central panel. I have already checked the visible smoke alarm housing and could not find a normal user-replaceable battery compartment. The system also appears to be quite old, and I cannot identify the brand or installer. What I need: • inspect and diagnose the faulty detector / panel / circuit • confirm which power circuit it is connected to • safely isolate the fault if required • advise whether repair is possible or whether replacement is the better option Please only respond if you have experience with: • smoke alarms • hard-wired detectors • older linked alarm systems • alarm panels / fire indicator faults This is mainly a diagnosis and fault-finding job first, not just a basic battery replacement. We need to install a fire alarm in the lower floor and inter connects with another existing alarm in the upper floor. You may need to connect two alarms with a 4 metres line through the roof, to the ceiling of lower floor. We need a certificate of installation after the work is done.

Hello, hoping a licensed electrician can come fix one of our fire alarms that’s wired into the ceiling either today or tomorrow (7/03 - 8/03). It keeps making a beeping/chirping noise, we suspect it was a flat battery, but when we changed the battery it was fine for a few days but now beeping/chirping again and can hear a slight static noise coming from it.
