What do childcare and safety services include?

When you book a childcare and safety service through our platform, you get to work with a practitioner who can go to your home and help you look after your baby or child. If you or your partner are about to give birth, you can also find experts to help you get through labour and the first few weeks of life with your newborn.

You can find the following types of childcare and safety practitioners on our platform:

Babysitting

A babysitter usually takes care of babies and young children temporarily - for example, an emergency comes up at work, you need to run some errands, or you want a (well-deserved) night out. Babysitters usually do not have any formal qualifications besides registration.

They’re in charge of changing nappies, preparing meals, keeping the kids entertained, and supervising them.

Childminding

If you’re going to be out regularly (e.g. for your 9-5 job), or if you’re going to be on a business trip for a week and none of your relatives can watch the kids, you’ll need a childminder.

Childminders, like babysitters, are required to register with Ofsted. They may also have more credentials than a typical babysitter. These can include a childminding course, pediatric First Aid, and safeguarding training. Childminders typically prepare meals, change diapers, bathe and dress the kids, take them to and from school, and help with their education.

Doula services

Doulas are responsible for providing emotional and physical support to the mother. This usually starts months before the birth. During your pregnancy, a doula is expected to educate you about pregnancy and birth, help you create a birth plan, talk to you about life experiences that might affect your birth experience, and help you prepare for your post-birth state.

During labour, they can support you physically by creating your ideal birthing environment. They also suggest positions and breathing exercises. Doulas also serve as your champion when talking to your healthcare providers.

After giving birth, you can usually expect a doula to help you bond with your new baby and give you tips for feeding, sleeping, and settling with your newborn. Doulas typically service home births. If you choose to deliver your child in a hospital and don’t have a way to get your doula there fast, you can use Airtasker to find a trusted driver near you.

Maternity nursing

When you book a maternity nurse, expect a support system that’ll help you learn the basics of caring for your new baby. They may show you how to carry, feed, bathe, dress, and comfort your newborn. Maternity nurses may also help by taking care of your baby for hours at a time, allowing you time to rest and recover.

Life with your little one can be challenging! Thankfully, you can easily find people in your community who can help you shop for groceries without leaving your home. You can also find cleaning experts who’ll help you declutter or even clean out your gutters.

Housekeeper/nanny to look after the kids, cook, clean

$100

Indooroopilly QLD 4068, Australia

1st May 2026

I'm looking for a housemaid/nanny, every other fortnight. So, 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. three days a week, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday between 15:00 and 18:00, sometimes finish at 19:00. I need someone who can help with cooking, cleaning, laundry, and looking after my boys, who are 7 and 11, in our 2-bed, 2-bath apartment. They're pretty independent and active, so they don't need a ton of attention, just some supervision. I also need someone who can cook European food since they're picky eaters. Pay is negotiable. Send your questions and offers. Thanks.

Last minute babysitter

$200

Mount Ommaney QLD, Australia

27th Apr 2026

I need someone to help care for my 3 year old son tomorrow from 8:30am to 12pm at the latest. While this is a “once off” job, I will need ad hoc help with my children (also have a 9 year old son) going forward as I have no family here and have a very limited support network. I will most likely be back home by 11am but have included an hour buffer just in case. I live in Mount Ommaney, within walking distance to the shops and there’s a park also very close. Hope someone is able to help.

My wife and I are looking for a caring and reliable nanny to help mind our 3-month-old baby. We’re after someone 2 days per week, around 4 hours each day (midday-ish, flexible). I work from home, and this time gives my wife a chance to get things done around the house or run errands without juggling bub. If baby’s asleep with mum, we’d love a hand with light cleaning/tidying. Nothing too full-on — just the usual keeping things in order. We’re after someone who’s: Experienced with young babies Warm, patient, and trustworthy Comfortable helping out a little around the house Start date will be the week of the 22nd.

Nanny Wanted – Mix of Mornings & Full Days

$35

Chapel Hill QLD, Australia

4th Sep 2025

Hello! We’re a busy household full of girls (and ADHD) – not a joke, but it should make you smile. There are five of us plus two silly dogs. We have two school-aged children and a little one in daycare. Mum is a single parent and doctor who works from home part time. Godmother is a teacher who works casually, so she can help you settle into the role. We’re looking for a reliable, fun, and gentle nanny to join our chaos each week. Hours & Schedule: • Mondays & Fridays: 6:30 am – 9:30 am (3 hours): Help get the kids ready for school/daycare, prepare lunches, and do school & daycare drop-offs. • Tuesdays & Thursdays: 7:30 am – 3:30 pm (8 hours): Care for our youngest during the day, with play, meals, naps, and outings as needed. • Likely possibility for more hours, depending on our needs and your availability. What we’re looking for: • Someone organised, nurturing, and fun • Plenty of experience with children of different ages • Dog-friendly (our two pups are very much part of the family!) • Open and comfortable asking questions – we’d love you to check in whenever you’re unsure, so there’s continuity between what you do and what we do. • An understanding of attachment – it’s normal for the kids to miss us or feel wobbly. Please keep us in the loop so we can support them together. • Flexible and fun – outings and adventures are welcome! The only non-negotiables are safety and making sure the kids feel respected and secure. Pay: • $35/hr (with an additional $15 flat payment on Mondays and Fridays if you use your own car for school/daycare drop-offs)
