Babysitting 18mnths

Ruby is communicative, clear and diligent with her approach. Ruby had to manage an unsettled baby when we left and used her skills and attentiveness to get baby to sleep. Ruby kept us up to date during the evening, paying special attention to how baby was doing during the night. Thank you Ruby. Highly recommended.

What do childcare and safety services include?

When you book a childcare and safety service through our platform, you get to work with a practitioner who can go to your home and help you look after your baby or child. If you or your partner are about to give birth, you can also find experts to help you get through labour and the first few weeks of life with your newborn.

You can find the following types of childcare and safety practitioners on our platform:

A babysitter usually takes care of babies and young children temporarily - for example, an emergency comes up at work, you need to run some errands, or you want a (well-deserved) night out. Babysitters usually do not have any formal qualifications besides registration.

They’re in charge of changing nappies, preparing meals, keeping the kids entertained, and supervising them.

If you’re going to be out regularly (e.g. for your 9-5 job), or if you’re going to be on a business trip for a week and none of your relatives can watch the kids, you’ll need a childminder.

Childminders, like babysitters, are required to register with Ofsted. They may also have more credentials than a typical babysitter. These can include a childminding course, pediatric First Aid, and safeguarding training. Childminders typically prepare meals, change diapers, bathe and dress the kids, take them to and from school, and help with their education.

Doula services

Doulas are responsible for providing emotional and physical support to the mother. This usually starts months before the birth. During your pregnancy, a doula is expected to educate you about pregnancy and birth, help you create a birth plan, talk to you about life experiences that might affect your birth experience, and help you prepare for your post-birth state.

During labour, they can support you physically by creating your ideal birthing environment. They also suggest positions and breathing exercises. Doulas also serve as your champion when talking to your healthcare providers.

After giving birth, you can usually expect a doula to help you bond with your new baby and give you tips for feeding, sleeping, and settling with your newborn. Doulas typically service home births. If you choose to deliver your child in a hospital and don’t have a way to get your doula there fast, you can use Airtasker to find a trusted driver near you.

Maternity nursing

When you book a maternity nurse, expect a support system that’ll help you learn the basics of caring for your new baby. They may show you how to carry, feed, bathe, dress, and comfort your newborn. Maternity nurses may also help by taking care of your baby for hours at a time, allowing you time to rest and recover.

Life with your little one can be challenging! Thankfully, you can easily find people in your community who can help you shop for groceries without leaving your home. You can also find cleaning experts who’ll help you declutter or even clean out your gutters.

Babysit our 4yo girl (Malayalam speaker pref, but not mandatory)

Brunswick VIC, Australia

1st Feb 2024

Hi there, we are a friendly warm gay couple. We're looking for a babysitter for regular babysitting requests. Must have experience babysitting children (and/or have had children of your own) and would love if you're happy to do a couple of light tasks around the house once the child is asleep like folding laundry or stacking/un-stacking the dishwasher, tidying up toys if at all :) Preference for qualified childcare workers/educators who are looking for evening shifts, and anyone who can speak the Malayalam language but not necessary. If we all feel happy/comfortable after the first shift, we'd love to meet someone we can stay in touch with for regular baby sitting down the track! The requirements will generally be evening/night-times on weekdays and weekends, and sometimes weekend afternoons on an as-needs basis. Must be comfortable working with a queer family, in our home. We are happy to pay $20 to $25/hour and we have only put 1 hour on the airtasker advertisement so you don't have to pay high fees. The remainder will be paid in person in cash for each session. Hope to meet someone lovely and look forward to hearing from you - Due date: Flexible

Long term Nanny needed for 2 y/o, twice a week.

Fitzroy VIC 3065, Australia

6th Sep 2023

Hello, We need a nanny or caretaker for our very happy almost 2 year old Son (22 months). Our need: - Thursday 2pm - 7pm - Friday/Saturday 3pm - 10pm - Someone with experience and references - Willing to find new activities and explore every shift. - Extremely reliable - Punctual - General tidying and cleaning after the child only. - Invoicing - Police check - working with children certificate / check - First aid cert Who we want: Ideally someone high energy and excited to find new activities and projects that will help our son develop and keep him curious and happy. Someone reliable, experienced and punctual. We like a calm home environment, we've unfortunately had some carers in the past come to their shifts bring their personal lives crying, chaotic, erratic and this has created a lot of anxiety for us in our home, we really need someone uncomplicated, trustworthy and willing to treat this as a safe environment for all of us but mostly for the child. We are looking for someone long term, we invest in the people around us and think stability is great for all people involved. What we offer: A happy and safe work environment, we are aware this is your job. We don't ask you to do anything that isn't for our son, we don't treat you like a cleaner. We are aware and respect that you're job is focused on the child and appreciate it very much. During your evening caring we're happy for you to relax, watch tv, we're rarely out later than 10/11pm and will always pre-arrange this with you. You can expect that we are consistent and reliable in return. We wont change shifts on you last minute or cancel. About our son, he's a happy, high energy curious and trusting child. He understands both German and English fluently and can communicate talking already quite well. He has been able to walk and run since 9months so consider him a little more like a 2.5 year old in development, rather than a 22 month old. - Due date: Before Thursday, 14 September 2023
