What does a bird sitting service include?

Bird sitting services usually cover feeding, cage cleaning, plus treats and playtime for your feathered friend. This involves a Tasker going to your house on a regular basis (e.g. daily or twice a day) to care for your bird. What makes it better than bringing your pet to a boarding facility is that your bird gets to stay in your own home. Plus, your Tasker will be dedicated to their care during their stay.

Though the details may vary depending on your pet’s own needs and the Tasker you hire, here’s what you can expect when you book a bird sitting service through Airtasker:

Feeding

The Tasker stops by your house and refills your bird’s supply of food and water. To make sure that what’s left in their dish isn’t just hulls, you should have the container emptied, cleaned, and refilled every time your bird sitter visits. Also, it’s best that you set up your pet’s cage in a way that makes it easy for your pet sitter to feed them without provoking your pet or getting injured. Some birds can be quite territorial, so it’s best you plan the logistics carefully.

Cage cleaning

Some Taskers may offer cage cleaning services as well. Your bird sitter swaps out the paper lining their cage and makes sure that your birds don’t put their waste in their food and water bowls. If you are away from home for a week or longer, your Tasker may also need to do a thorough cleaning of the cage bars and perches. Demonstrate how to safely transfer your bird to another location while the cage is being cleaned, and make sure your bird will follow your Tasker’s commands for leaving and going back inside the cage.

Treats and playtime

Your pet will also need their regular exercise and roaming time while you’re out. Brief your Tasker about how to get them out and back inside the cage, and let them know how long you’d like your bird to fly around the house. If your bird knows any tricks or games such as foraging for treats, your Tasker may like doing these with your pet. Just make sure that your Tasker can keep your pet safe while in flight - check for open or broken doors and windows, or any clutter that your bird may pick up and play with.

Hi! I’m looking for someone to look after my two pet birds, Bobbie and Peppa( both males), while I’m away from 23/07-23/08. They are super friendly, tame and love spending time outside their cage when I’m home, so ideally I’d love to find someone comfortable letting them out. What’s involved: -Feeding and fresh water daily -Letting them out of the cage for playtime -A bit of company and interaction (they love attention!) -General check that they’re happy and healthy They’re very easy to handle and make lovely little companions. I’m happy to bring their cage and food to you, or we can discuss what works best. If you’re an animal lover (especially with bird experience) and available over those dates, I’d love to hear from you!

I need someone to look after my bird and Car ( or possibly I can leave my car at the airport) I’m heading away from today - I’ll be back Saturday I’m looking for someone who is able to take care of my birds as the last person I dropped my birds off with didn’t give my birds any food, I gave them an extra $50 to get food for my birds and when I picked my birds up they were extremely disorientated like they hadn’t eaten in three days . It was very sad to see them in that state. I am able to drive to you and drop them off they are in a small cage. There are two small cockatiels. Thank you

This is a pet sitting gig from 13th of February to 20th of march, she will require daily water change every 2nd day seed change and 2nd weekly news paper change. Cuddles optional but recommended. If you love birds this might be the task for you happy to drop her off either in goldcoast or south brisbane. Will make final decision on taskers offers 28/1/26 she comes with a travel cage she can stay in, she is able to fly ( she dosent have a history of flying away but There is always a worry of her being attacked by other birds so she usually stays inside.) Her normal cage is alot bigger then her travel cage but she is ok to stay in her travel cage for a couple weeks. I will provide a couple boxes of seed for the 5 week duration.

She is amazing and went above and beyond the expected task requirements. I couldnt have asked for better help.

Hello, I have two super cute budgies( Pepper and Bobby) and I am going away next week for 5 days. I am looking for someone who would take them from the 12.10-16.10 in Brisbane please. The cage is not big and you just need to feed them once a day. They are both tamed and sit on your finger, but it's totally up to you if you want to let them out of their cage. Of course I would provide the food, drop them off and pick them up. Cheers Sophie - Due date: Needs to be done on Wednesday, 12 October 2022
