Backyard reno: earthworks, retaining walls, drainage and outdoor kitchen terrace We're renovating the backyard of our home in Tanawha, on a sloping block, and want quotes from licensed landscape builders for the whole job. Quotes for just the earthworks, walls and drainage are welcome too. What's involved: - Fix drainage across the backyard (the main reason for the job) - Cut into the slope beside the pool for a level terrace about 12.5 m x 5.5 m, plus more flat lawn - Sandstone retaining walls about 1.1 to 1.2 m high around the terrace and along the lawn where the old block wall is, with a low planted boulder row above - Travertine paving, a rendered outdoor kitchen bench and island, and a built-in braai (we have the unit) - Frameless glass pool fence along the terrace, and moving the pool pump equipment - Power and water to the kitchen, turf and planting A geotech report and survey are done. The engineer's plans are for an earlier version of the design, so the final wall layout will need the engineer's sign-off. The geotech report found weathered sandstone from about 0.3 m deep, so please allow for some rock. Concept images and a plan are attached. Full plans and reports go to shortlisted builders, and we're happy to meet on site. Please include your QBCC licence number. The walls need engineering, so the licence must cover engineered retaining walls.
