We are a growing small business seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Accountant to manage our financial records and assist with quarterly BAS preparation. We use Xero as our accounting platform and typically process up to 1,500 entries per quarter. This role is crucial in ensuring our accounts are accurate, compliant, and up to date. Key Responsibilities: Record and categorize financial transactions in Xero with a high degree of accuracy. Perform bank and credit card reconciliations monthly. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable entries. Prepare and lodge quarterly Business Activity Statements (BAS). Maintain general ledger and ensure all data is properly coded. Prepare financial reports as needed (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, etc.). Ensure compliance with ATO requirements and timelines. Liaise with business owners or external accountants as required for year-end processes. Provide recommendations for improved financial processes and efficiency. Maintain confidentiality of all financial data and business information. Requirements: Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or Accountant for small businesses. Proficient in Xero accounting software. Strong understanding of Australian BAS requirements. Experience handling up to 1,500 transactions per quarter. Solid knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Strong communication skills. Cert IV in Bookkeeping/Accounting or equivalent qualification (preferred). Registered BAS Agent (highly desirable but not mandatory). Workload: Approximately [10-20 hours] per month depending on the volume. Quarterly BAS preparation focus. What We Offer: Flexible working arrangements (remote or hybrid possible).
