ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking an exceptional academic mentor to support a Year 8 student in Mathematics and Science. The primary objective is to solidify foundational concepts and bridge the gap to advanced problem-solving. We aim for significant measurable improvement by the Term 2 (May) assessments (short term goal). 2. CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS (STRICT) • Academic Excellence: An ATAR of 99 or above is highly preferred. • School Background: Graduate of a top-tier GPS school (e.g., Sydney Grammar) or a top-ranking Selective High School (e.g., James Ruse, North Sydney Boys, Syndey Boys High, Normanhurst Boys etc.). • Subject Mastery: Must have achieved Band 6 (90+) in HSC Mathematics Extension 1 & 2 and HSC Physics/Chemistry. • Communication Skills: Must possess the ability to deconstruct complex scientific theories into logical frameworks and teach mathematical strategies beyond rote learning. • Experience: Prior experience tutoring Junior High (Year 7-9) students is a significant advantage. 3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Curriculum Alignment: Conduct weekly reviews of the school syllabus to ensure zero conceptual gaps. • Advanced Practice: Utilize past papers from top-ranking schools to prepare the student for high-difficulty exam questions. • Scientific Literacy: Explicitly teach "Scientific Method" logic and high-scoring report writing techniques. • Reporting: Provide a brief FORTNIGHTLY progress summary to parents regarding strengths and areas for further focus. 4. LOGISTICS • Frequency: 2 sessions per week (Approx. 3 – 4 hours total). • Rate: $60 – $70 per hour (Negotiable based on academic credentials and proven track record). 5. Require a yr 8 high school tutor to work one on one in our home 2x a week, area code 2557. Experienced persons only preferably a WWCC. Subjects include but not limited to Maths, English, Science. Due to a personal accident our son missed the last term of year 7 and needs some help catching back up. 2-4hours a week preferably after 5:30pm on week days.
