About the Project Koji & Luma is a new children’s literature project based in Bendigo, Victoria. The series follows Koji (a whimsical, gender-neutral child with a growing digital identity) and Luma (their wise owl sidekick) as they explore courage, kindness, and navigating digital life. The project already has an established digital presence and is moving into the picture-book space. To support upcoming funding applications and pilot testing with schools, I am commissioning two professional illustration spreads to bring Koji & Luma’s world to life. What I’m Looking For • An illustrator with a whimsical, playful, character-driven style suited to children aged 5–11. • Ability to interpret provided character references and extend them into a picture-book setting. • Experience with picture books or storytelling illustration (preferred, but not essential). • Professional reliability and willingness to collaborate on a short brief. Project Scope • 2 full-colour spreads (with text placement). • Koji & Luma character references will be provided. • Timeline: ideally within 6–8 weeks (flexible). • Usage: For grant applications, pitches, and early pilot testing. • Fee: Negotiated in line with ASA picture-book illustration rates. Final illustrations should be supplied as high-resolution digital files (300 DPI), preferably in TIFF or PSD, at approximately A3 size (420 × 297mm) to allow for scaling. The design should reflect a picture-book spread (2 facing pages) with space for text placement. For working purposes, RGB colour mode is fine. Initial confirmation required to commit to the job- then once small grant is secured, funding can be provided to commence work.
