I’m looking for an experienced industrial/mechanical engineer or product designer to convert my handmade prototype into precise technical drawings and a 3D CAD model ready for 3D printing. The item is roughly the size of a dinner plate and consists of two primary components, including articulated arms (one telescopic and hinged). Accuracy and strong mechanical understanding are essential. I’m seeking someone Sydney-based so we can meet in person to hand over the prototype and drawings to minimise revisions. WHAT THIS TASK INVOLVES • Creating accurate technical drawings and a detailed 3D CAD model • Designing functional moving parts (telescopic & hinged) • Optimising the design for 3D printing (tolerances & materials) • Minor refinements to achieve exact specifications • Providing all source and export files on completion SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor or similar) • Experience designing functional mechanical components • Understanding of 3D printing constraints and materials • Own 3D printer for testing is desirable • Clear communicator able to follow instructions and offer practical advice IMPORTANT DETAILS • Sydney-based applicants only • Face-to-face meeting required • NDA must be signed before work begins • Fixed price applies to Stage 1 (design ready for print) • Examples of similar work required ONGOING OPPORTUNITY This is Stage 1 of a larger project. We have 2D plans of a two story house layout. We are looking fr 3D rendering with some design/furniture placement. Intention is to visualize what it would look like once built. House has 4 bedroom (1 ensuite), 2 bathrooms, 1 media room, 1 media room, kitchen, butlers, family, 2 balconies, double garage and laundry. 3D rendering required for facade too. My son and I are moving an original commercial prototype toward a patent and need an experienced designer to model a technical component. The part is similar in complexity to a threaded hydraulic dust cap with an internal seal, simple enough to be a quick win for an experienced designer, but specific enough to require a professional touch. We’ve done the legwork on the concept and are ready to hand over sketches and the part to someone who can turn them into a 3D-print-ready reality. This part must be built entirely from scratch to ensure a clean IP trail for our future patent application; we cannot accept modifications of existing STL files. We require a clean, parametric model (STEP and native files) that we can iterate on ourselves later. Design provenance is mandatory. We strongly prefer designers using CoAiDesign.com or equivalent platforms that provide automated version logs, feature-level history trees, and tamper-resistant design records. This is critical to ensuring a clean IP trail for our patent application. If you have a background in mechanical prototyping and understand 3D print tolerances, this is for you. If you have access to design-logging tools, please highlight that in your first sentence.
