Top Fitness Equipment Removals related questions

Gym equipment removals are always best done by a professional who has the tools and experience needed to safely transport your heavy (and valuable) equipment. It’s the best way to get your equipment from one place to another without damage, plus, you don’t have to worry about hiring a truck or trailer yourself.

Most home gym locations are due to the owner moving house or selling their unused equipment. But occasionally, they may get help with relocating their home gym to another room within the same house.

Your removalist will carefully pack the equipment to minimise movement. They’ll pad out the load with blankets and bubble wrap, where needed, and use a tarp for cover if it’s an open ute or trailer.

Some removals include re-installation and reassembly of your fitness equipment, but you’ll need to confirm this when you book your service.

Most gym equipment removals will take around 30 minutes to load and unload for each trip, plus travel time. But this will depend on the amount and type of equipment, and the size of the load.

Fitness equipment removal usually costs between $70-$200 when you book your service through Airtasker. The cost will depend on the amount and type of equipment and the total distance you need it moved.

What does fitness equipment removal include?

Gym equipment removal can include picking up used gym equipment from a seller and delivering it to the buyer, relocating a home gym as part of a whole house removal, or moving a commercial gym from one location to another. Regardless of the location, here are the steps your removalist will follow:

Disassembly and packing

Your gym equipment removalist will start by disassembling any larger items, like racks, benches, and stands. They’ll pack any small pieces (like accessories and smaller weights) into boxes. For larger equipment that can’t be disassembled, they’ll carefully wrap or pad this out with blankets and bubble wrap to protect it during transit.

Next, they’ll transport heavier items on trolleys, before loading them into the ute tray, trailer, or truck. Your removalist will add more old blankets to add padding between items and stop them from moving around during the drive. If it’s a ute or trailer, they’ll add a tarp on top to protect your items from the weather and secure everything with ratchet straps.

Transport and delivery

Once everything’s loaded up, your fitness equipment remover will carefully transport everything to the next location. They’ll take corners and speed bumps slowly to avoid unnecessary jostling of your gym equipment. Once they arrive at your destination, they’ll park as close as possible to the entrance to make unloading easier.

Unpacking and setting up

Your gym equipment removalist will unload the items from the truck, trailer, or ute tray. They’ll use a trolley to safely transport bigger and heavier items. This may require an extra person - whether you pitch in to help, or hire a second removalist to help with the heavy lifting.

Your removalist will check where you want your gym equipment located and then move everything into place, unpacking them from the boxes and packaging. If needed, they’ll help reassemble any equipment that was flat-packed or disassembled for the move. And they’ll also wipe down any equipment to remove marks and dust from the move so that it’s ready for use straight away.
