I have 2 dogs that I need someone to look after in my house on a Friday from 10am to 3pm every week for 6 months. This is a dream job. You get to play with the dogs, take them for a short walk and then you can watch TV if you want or look at Facebook until your eyes bleed, as long as the dogs are first priority. This is an ideal task for a uni student who wants to study while looking after the dogs. You must be reliable (don't ring on the day and say you can't make it or generally be a flake) and you must be GREAT with dogs. Some previous dog sitting experience would be ideal.

27th Jul 2016

I'm off on holiday for three weeks and although my housemate will be home, she is afraid of birds and so can't cope with cleaning the chickens out for me. I have five free range chickens (four of whom are friendly and three of which are so friendly you can stroke them) and a very cute free-range rabbit called Jake, who is a bit of an escape artist...so this job is for someone who is great with animals and who will be very cautious and careful when entering and leaving my property. This is 1 hour MAX work for someone once a week, for FOUR weeks, so I'm paying for four hours work. If you cannot do all of these dates and times then please do not bid. I did this the last two weekends in 45 minutes so 1 hour each day is definitely more than enough time. The dates that are required are: Saturday 6th August (any time between 7am and 4:30pm) Friday 12th August (any time between 7am and 4:30pm) Thursday 18th August (any time between 7am and 4:30pm) Wednesday 24th August (any time between 7am and 4:30pm) Please don't pick my rabbit up, or chase the animals. Jake hates being picked up and will become mistrusting of you if you do that. If you're patient though and hold on to a piece of apple or another yummy treat, he's usually happy to be stroked or brushed. He is very inquisitive, **** probably hang out with you as you clean the chickens out and he might playfully nudge your ankles with his nose. The tasks include: 1) Filling up the chicken and rabbit feeders 2) Emptying newspaper and straw from nesting box and collecting eggs (you can keep these) 3) Emptying, cleaning and filling up water containers 4) Emptying newspaper and chicken poop from chicken coop (all poop just goes into my wheelbarrow and I'll compost this when I'm back) 5) Sweeping concrete paths and drive and putting poop into wheelbarrow 6) Checking for rabbit burrows in the back corner of my garden and filling them in (Jake can't dig much of a burrow in a week...the garden is very secure, but the back corner allows him to dig and sometimes the burrows can get pretty major if not checked weekly) In the days running up to coming around to do the work it would be really great if you can put any of the following into a container for the chickens and rabbit: carrot peelings / carrot tops fresh basil fresh parsley broccoli leaves or broccoli stalk (You can take leaves off all the broccoli at the supermarket and they don't charge you for them.) dandelion leaves from lawn (make sure no weedkiller has been put down) clover weed from the lawn (make sure no weedkiller has been put down) cauliflower leaves cabbage (white or red) rose leaves Grass, such as Kikuyu from the nature strips Apple or Pear Cores (but you MUST remove the seeds, they are very toxic) Don't give Avocado (highly toxic). Also, he's not interested in lettuce and it's not good for him either. I will be leaving some celery and stuff for Jake with my house mate, so she might leave some greens out for him some days, but if you can supplement with any bits and bobs from the list above, he would love you for it. I don't trust my house mate to give him all the greens that he needs. He eats a lot! Here's step by step what to do. It's simple but doing it in this order will make you more efficient. Remember: Jake the rabbit is free range with my chickens and he's an escape artist so keep an eye on your feet as you enter and exit! He is a master of slipping between your feet when you're heading out the gate. If you're trying to leave and you can see he's close by and he's trying to escape, just make him think you're trying to pick him up - it will distract him and make him hop away. 1) Remove Chicken Feeder from Chicken Coop and take to Aluminium Shed. Fill it up with chicken feed in the red and black sack and place in plastic stackabox (on floor of shed with newspapers and straw in it) 2) Take an egg box from shelf and put into stackabox. Carry stack-a-box back around to chicken coop. 3) Open up slanted roof on chicken coop (this is the nesting box) and remove the eggs. Put them in the egg box. 4) Remove water dispenser and the brick from the floor of the coop and take the water dispenser and the egg box round to the back door (past aluminium shed). Wash poop off eggs. Empty and refill water dispenser. A splash of apple cider vinegar in the water is ideal..ACV bottle is by the tap. 5) Put Egg Box and Water Dispenser on TOP of coop (dont return water to proper location yet) 6) Fetch Wheelbarrow from Garage (dustpan and brush is in wheelbarrow) wheel out to coop area 7) Remove all of straw and newspapers from nesting box, put into wheelbarrow 8) Slide out tray from beneath perches in chicken coop. Tip poop and newspaper sheets into wheelbarrow. Remove perches and place on roof of coop. 9) Use dustpan and brush to remove all dust and poop from inside coop. Start in the nesting box and do the floor of the coop last. 10) Replace the chicken feeder ensuring top and bottom hooked over wire supports. 11) Put a whole newspaper (all pages opened out) into base of nesting box and fill with straw. Close and latch roof securely. 12) Put a whole newspaper (opened out and folded to correct length) into sliding tray under perches. Slide tray back into place. Give perches a wash and replace. 13) Put brick and water dispenser back into place. 14) Use Back of Broom and Dustpan for scraping and broom and brush for sweeping, to remove chicken poop from all of concrete around coop plus paths and fresh poops sitting on top of the lawn (there aren't usually many). 15) Put all poop in wheelbarrow. Put wheelbarrow back in garage (I'll sort this out later) 16) Return Stackabox back to Aluminium Shed 17) Go through the cat flap gate by back door - this is Jake's area. 18) Fill up the rabbit bowl (it's red) and feed dispenser from the pedal bin by the cat-flap door. The food is in the RIGHT compartment. 19) Give him fresh greens / veg scraps that you have brought and also please take a bunch of weeds from my dirt pile behind the front garden for him. 20) Refill Jake's water bottle 21) Head into the back corner of the back garden (behind the lemon tree...the corner has a tarpaulin above and a timber picket fence and gate enclosing it. 22) Check that Jake hasn't dug any massive burrows. If he has, fill them in (this takes two minutes) 23) Count the chickens - there should be 5. Check that you have seen the rabbit. 24) Don't forget to take your eggs home! I can show you around this weekend if you wish to see me do the work. I'll be cleaning them out on Saturday afternoon. Note - If Jake the rabbit does escape, it won't be the end of the world. I live in a court and it's relatively easy to catch him. If it all goes really wrong and he does escape, he will most likely come back as he has escaped many times before. We'll just need to communicate with my neighbours and my house mate and have everyone keeping an eye out to let him back in when he's ready.

Di is amazing....so thorough and she really cares. Came with a notepad and took notes, sent me photos of my rabbit and chooks throughout my holiday. Highly recommended! Would love to use her services again
