Replace alternator on 1997 EL Ford Falcon, NRMA confirmed last night via diagnostic it is the alternator, not battery. Car is parked at my house but not driveable as won’t start. Need mobile mechanic or auto electrician to supply and fit and test alternator (can be generic brand and refurbished, I don’t care if it is not new). Live mobile quoted $700 (new alternator), other mobile mechanic quoted $400 for attend and fit. Need done ASAP, I have Ryobi heavy duty LED Work light and can hold if you can do at night time today. If a new alternator is all you can get then that is ok. Just thought a refurbished/recondition would be cheaper, as I will be getting new car next year. Also would like after alternator replacement, for you to make sure the battery is charging. I have a picture of last nights NRMA road side diagnostics. I unfortunately am off work on workers comp and can’t afford a tow to a mechanic, and they can’t do for a few days. I need my car back ASAP. Situation: Car overheated while driving and it does not kick over anymore, there was a large amount of oil and coolant that spilt during the incident. After consultation, I have most likely blown a head gasket or fried a piston. Task : I am doing my due diligence and I would like a qualified mobile mechanic to confirm that my engine is gone by inspecting the car located at the front of my house in person.
