What do leather car seat restoration services include?

Airtasker's leather car seat restoration services include preparing the leather, cleaning the seats, applying binder and filler, spraying leather colourant, and applying sealant and leather finish. In your task post, you can ask the tasker to bring their restoration kit or to stop by the store to purchase your preferred brands. Of course, you can also choose to provide them with your own set of recommended products.

In addition to leather car seat restoration, you can also ask your local expert to help with related tasks, such as car cleaning or fixing the roof lining. Simply mention these extra jobs in your post so that potential Taskers can give you a fair offer and prepare the necessary equipment. This way, you get to finish all the car chores in one go while saving time and energy.

If you're getting your car's seats restored for the first time, here's what to expect from the process:

Preparing the leather

First, your Tasker will apply a leather prep product to your seats using an abrasive pad or cloth. This step removes the manufacturer finish and colour on the seats.

Cleaning the seats

Next, your Tasker may use an alcohol solution to treat the leather. This step removes all the other finishes and chemicals that cannot be removed by a leather prep solution. After rubbing the seats down with alcohol, your Tasker will wait for thirty (30) minutes to let the chemicals evaporate.

Applying binder and filler

Want to bring back the brand new look of your car's leather seats? Chances are, they're showing some wear and tear that only binders and fillers can fix. Your Tasker will apply 8-10 full coats of binder, wiping away the excess after every coat. Next, your Tasker will apply a filler into the cracks and sand the surface of the leather. The result? A smooth, supple leather surface.

Spraying leather colourant

Next, a coat of leather colourant will be sponged then sprayed onto the seats. Your Tasker may apply multiple coats of dye, depending on how worn the chairs are or the look that you want to achieve.

Applying sealant and leather finish

Finally, your Tasker will apply coats of sealant and leather finish. These products will make your seats more durable and help their new layer of colour last longer.
