Paintless dent removal services include specialized techniques that remove dents, creases, and dings in a vehicle’s bodywork. Also known as PDR or paintless dent repair, this service involves special tools that push and massage a dent to restore a metal panel, leaving the paintwork intact.
Paintless dent removal is a more efficient method than removing and replacing panels to fix a vehicle dent. Moreover, paintless dent removal prevents the need for more costly panel replacements, painting, filling, or sanding.
Paintless dent removal is performed through two standard methods.Â
Paintless dent removal method 1: Pushing the dent
The first method is pushing the dent. A specialist applies special dent removal tools to ‘massage’ a cut from the underside. A specialist uses a bright LED or Fluro light to see the damage correctly. Then, metal rods and specially designed body picks are used to push the metal back into its original form. This method is suitable for minor dents such as small trolley marks or hail damage.
Paintless dent removal method 2: Pulling the dent
The second method is pulling the dent with a special glue and tabs to pull a metal back into place. This option applies to dents that are inaccessible from the back. A specialist pulls the metal back into place. The dent removal specialist may also use small hammers and mallets to flatten high spots to restore the panel’s appearance. This method is suitable for larger dents.
