Hello, I’m looking to work with an experienced concreter to complete a residential driveway and side paths. The job is 250 square meters. I’m not looking for the cheapest quote. I’m looking for someone experienced who is happy to discuss the construction details with me upfront and build the driveway properly to an agreed specification. The site is reactive clay and the driveway will be approximately 6m wide and used for normal residential vehicles. My preferred specification * Properly prepare, trim and compact the existing subgrade * 100mm compacted crushed-rock roadbase/sub-base * 125mm concrete slab * 32 MPa concrete * SL82 reinforcement, properly supported/chaired within the slab * No uncontrolled water added to the concrete on site * Properly designed and positioned control/construction joints * Isolation/foam joint against existing concrete slabs/structures * Appropriate falls to ensure water drains correctly * Driveway runoff connected to the existing stormwater system, rather than simply discharged along the fence/garden * Proper curing and finishing procedures I’m open to sensible professional recommendations where site conditions mean something should be changed
