What does a mopping service include?
Mopping generally includes cleaning all the hard floor surfaces inside your home. Mopping methods and services can vary from cleaner to cleaner, but in general, here’s what you can expect:
Traditional mopping
This is the most common type of mopping that’s ideal for most floor conditions (even heavily soiled floors). The cleaner will use a mop and cleaning agent in a bucket to clean your floor. Depending on what type of floor you have - whether it’s tile, stone, concrete, or timber - your cleaner may use a different type of cleaning agent to ensure the best result without damaging your floors. After they arrive, your cleaner will first vacuum or sweep the floor to remove any loose debris. Next, they’ll mop the floors with a wet mop to remove any stains. They’ll finish up with a dry mop to minimise wet residue left on your floor and leave a sparkly clean finish.
Steam mopping
Steam mopping is ideal for maintenance cleaning or lightly soiled floors. That’s it’s best for sanitising, rather than removing large quantities of dirt and grime. Your cleaner will first make sure the floor is suitable for steam mopping. Floors without seals, such as exposed wood, are unsuitable for steam mopping as moisture can damage the surface. To prepare the floor, your cleaner will first remove any loose dirt and grit from the floor by vacuuming or sweeping. Next they’ll prepare the mop pads on the steamer, switch it on, and then steam mop all your hard floor surfaces. Steam mopped floors usually dry within a few minutes, but if there are any wet patches, your cleaner will mop them up with a dry towel.
One-off clean
One-off mopping services are popular for post-event cleanups or end-of-lease cleans. Depending on your needs, your cleaner will either mop or steam mop your floors. Your cleaner will discuss what type of floors you have and what areas you need to be cleaned prior to their arrival. They’ll turn up with the correct solutions and equipment to properly clean your floors. After a sweep or vacuum to remove dust, they’ll use either traditional mopping or steam mopping to clean your floors, depending on your floor type.
Regular clean
You can hire a cleaner to mop your floors on a regular basis (weekly, fortnightly, or monthly) so that your floors are always in great condition. Your cleaner may alternate between regular mopping and steam mopping to give you the benefits of both, depending on your floor type. Note that regular steam cleaning isn’t ideal for hardwood floors as the steam can penetrate the seams of the floorboards where the wood is exposed. So, for hardwood floors, the cleaner may just mop your floors the traditional way.

Just hoping to get someone in today to clean my kitchen, two bathrooms and the vinyl flooring throughout our house. Bathroom 1 (Master bedroom ensuite) Comprises of a shower, vanity and toilet, fully tiled Please remove the soap scum buildup on the shower screen and have it sparkling once again. Please give the floor a little clean and the drain track, which is easily removed and placed back. We haven’t been here very long but I can see some hard water spots accumulating an I can’t get to them myself at the moment as I am pregnant and cleaning is absolutely taking me out 😅 Please clean the sink and mirror as well as the toilet and surround. Bathroom 2 Comprises of a seperate toilet and bathroom with a vanity, shower and free standing bath tub. This shower is very lightly used as it is my small children’s bathroom so won’t be as much of a mission as the first shower. The tub is used daily and regularly cleaned, but can always use a bit of love. Same for the sink and counter, the mirror needs a little polish. Dusting the window sill and the shelf built into the wall. Please give between the tub and the wall a clean too as I can no longer fit in that space to get it myself. Seperate toilet is the potty training bathroom, please take extra care to ensure the toilet is detailed inside and out, the floors and possibly even the backsplash tiles. This bathroom is a little bit wild and I do my best to keep on top of it but with two little boys I have got my work cut out for me. Kitchen General clean Areas of focus - please clean/polish the glass cabinet doors and range hood. Cabinet doors especially around the handles where there may be grubby little fingerprints. Skirting boards need a spot clean. Hard floors Please give the hard floors a vacuum and mop, main traffic areas are the bathrooms, kitchen and the living/dining area, everything else just needs a quick mop.
