If the light scratch is small, using and applying a car scratch repair pen can be all that’s required to fix the problem. While that is an option, the usual manner by which Taskers could perform this service is by cleaning the problem spot, masking off unaffected areas close to the scratch, then applying a polishing compound with a microfiber cloth to polish off the scratch.
Repairing Deep Scratches
Deep scratches call for a more qualified service to fix. This type of scratch may have penetrated the base coat of your car’s paint job, or worse, reached and exposed the bare sheet metal of your car’s body. Don’t delay in having this kind of scratch repaired, as neglecting it can cause corrosion to set in and lead to larger, more expensive repairs to your car. Have a small batch of paint, such as a touch-up bottle of the exact same colour as your car is getting primed for these repairs.
When repairing deep scratches, Taskers will first do a thorough cleaning on the problem spot to remove any dirt, grease or oils. High-grit sandpaper will be used to sand off the paint on and around the scratch, but only until reaching the clear coat. If the scratch goes deeper, more sanding is done. After the sanding is completed, the area is rinsed with water and wiped dry with a non-abrasive microfibre cloth.
To prepare the area for repainting, your Tasker may mask off the unaffected areas close to the scratch. A thin layer of primer will be applied and left to dry. The scratch will likely be touched up by dabbing (not brushing) new paint on it with a toothpick or matchstick, then finally left to dry.

I’m looking for an experienced glass polishing/restoration specialist to work on the face glass of a vintage CRT television. The screen has a small number of scratches that I would like professionally polished and reduced. Because the television is vintage and difficult to replace, preserving the optical quality and original contour of the glass is the absolute priority. I am specifically looking for someone experienced with glass scratch removal/polishing, ideally using cerium oxide or an appropriate professional glass-polishing system. The work must be very conservative. I do not want excessive material removed in an attempt to completely eliminate a scratch if doing so risks creating lensing, waviness, haze, fogging, a visible polished patch, or any other optical distortion when viewing the television. Full removal would be ideal only where it can be achieved safely. Otherwise, I am completely happy with significant scratch reduction rather than complete removal. The aim is simply to make the scratches substantially less noticeable while keeping the glass optically uniform. Please only respond if you have genuine experience polishing scratches from glass. Experience with aquarium, architectural, automotive or other optically sensitive glass would be particularly relevant. I can provide close-up photos of the scratches before the job. On-site/mobile work is strongly preferred due to the size, weight and collectible nature of the television.
