Seeking quotes to determine best course of action - 2000 Toyota Celica SX Auto. Timing chain snapped, chain, water pump and crankshaft gear were replaced in June 2024 by previous owner - mechanic whom installed new chain then noted a misfire and advised valves may be bent or burnt from timing chain breaking. Unsure if she was also oil starved. Car will start but has serious lifter tick and doesn't want to hold idle. This vehicle has no diagnostic tool capacity available - compression test has given us a result of zero compression in cylinder 3. The spark plug in this cylinder was fouled and damaged. Further symptoms are lifter tick, blowing smoke (not white), some oil on floor after running for 5 mins, however no oil in coolant or coolant in oil, and no bubbles visible in radiator cap. Oil found on spark plugs 1 and 4. We were willing to pull the head ourselves and have it overhauled by local machine shop, however cannot eliminate the piston rings as the source of our problem. Seeking quotes to either rebuild, rectify or replace engine with a used 2ZZGE (would be supplied by us, no swap back required on old engine). All sundries to be included in quote (timing chain, water pump and spark plugs not required to be included as these have just been replaced). Thanks so much!
