Over the last year we've had leak trouble with our upstairs ensuite bathroom. It leaked to the downstairs kitchen roof. We: - Got the shower re-grouted. - The leak persisted - Got a leak specialist to look at it, he did a pressure/flood test and the water rapidly leaked downstairs. - They recommended we regrout the whole bathroom - We got a new shower screen and the whole floor regrouted - We didn't use the shower for a week - It leaked as soon as we used it again, so we assume it's something to do with the drain. We've spent thousands but are unsure how to proceed. I have wondered: - The drain flange needs to be either re-bedded or replaced? with the waterproof membrane properly clamped or bonded to the drain body. Many shower drains have a clamping ring specifically for this — the membrane gets sandwiched between the drain body and the clamping ring. From the photo it doesn't look like that was ever done correctly here. Water that hits the shower floor doesn't all make it cleanly into the drain opening. Some spreads outward, and if the flange-to-tile junction isn't properly sealed with a waterproof membrane bond, it wicks under the tiles and into the substrate — which is exactly the pathway that causes the ceiling damage? We want someone to come to categorically diagnose the issue given the history of the work. I assume the waterproofing has failed fundamentally, but before committing to any more significant work, I want to have some guarantees. Hi, I am undertaking a bathroom renovation in Heidelberg and require a licensed plumber for an independent assessment on Friday June 12th. Background: During demolition, it was discovered that the existing shower waste pipe exits through the wall rather than the floor, sitting approximately 80mm above slab level. The current contractor has proposed cutting the slab beneath the existing pipework and partially removing the brick wall to access the drainagein order to lower the waste pipe and achieve a compliant 50mm raised shower hob, at an additional cost of $1,760. I need an independent licensed plumber to: 1. Attend the site and assess the current waste pipe setup 2. Confirm whether the proposed slab cutting and pipe lowering are necessary and the only way to achieve a 50mm hob 3. Consider if there are alternative solutions 4. Determine if a flush floor walk-in shower can be installed, given the existing floor levels and drainage setup 5. Confirm whether the proposed works are safe, especially since this is an apartment with a unit below 6. Provide a written report of findings on the day 7. Confirm if the quoted cost of $1,760 is reasonable Requirements: — Must be VBA licensed and registered — Must be available Friday the 12th — Must supply a written report on the same day — Must hold current public liability insurance Please quote your attendance fee and confirm availability. Want to install handheld shower & rail via a diverter valve to existing rain shower. We don't want to renovate, re-plumb or damage tiling. First need you to confirm that this will work and the diverter valve connection is compatible with existing shower mixer & pipe connections. I will then purchase the parts. The job is then to (A) fit the diverter valve in between mixer and rain shower pipe (B) attach new handheld shower rail next to the rain shower (C) connect new shower hose to the diverter valve (D) test works without leaks. Please note it would be better if the hand held could be attached to the current rain shower pipe without the need for the rail. Job is for qualified plumbers only and those that are experienced with shower installations.
