Patch, Render & Cap Existing Retaining Wall (8m) Task description: I’m seeking an experienced concreter / renderer to cosmetically repair and refinish an existing retaining wall and column under a timber fence at a residential property. The wall is structurally sound, but has cracking, uneven patching and a tired finish. The objective is to straighten, neaten and refinish the wall so it presents as a clean, modern surface ready for painting. This is not a structural rebuild and not a decorative render — quality of finish and straightness are the priority. Scope of work: Remove loose or failing render and previous patches Patch cracks and damaged areas with suitable masonry repair mortar True up and straighten the wall face as much as practicable Apply a light bagged render / skim coat to achieve a flat, uniform finish Square off visible edges and the top line of the wall Supply and install a simple concrete cap along the full wall length: - Square edge - Slim, neat profile - Installed level and straight - Leave wall clean and ready for painting after curing Wall details: Length: approx. 8 metres Height: approx. 750–900 mm External, ground-level retaining wall beneath a timber fence Good access, no demolition required What I’m looking for: Experience with small residential concrete / render jobs Attention to straightness, levels, waterproofing and clean finishes Ability to explain how you will level the wall before installing the cap Photos of similar work preferred This is a cosmetic repair and finish, not a rebuild. Please include: Your experience with similar work What materials are included Estimated timeframe to complete Budget Indicative budget set for the right experience and finish quality. Bathroom in a unit (second/top floor) Prep ceiling and wall surfaces for priming and painting. Happy to consider including priming and painting. Can supply the paint and primer (Haymes). 1. Ceiling (plasterboard): Part of the ceiling likely requires skim coating (area under the bath/shower). It has previously been poorly prepped prior to painting. It has bumps and ridges that need to be smoothed out. I have scraped off most of the loose paint, and tried 40 grit sandpaper to smooth out the bumps, without success 2. Cornice (plasterboard): Sections of cornice will also require skim coating. 3. Walls (rendered brick): Screw holes need to be filled (only one wall). Bathroom dimensions: 1800 X 2500 X 2400 (h)
