I'm looking to get an aluminium gate installed on the side access of my house. Probably just a simple horizontal slat design and 1.8m high. Photo attached with measurements. Also attached an example photo. I am thinking I will have a post attached to the brick wall and have the gate hinged against this. Then another post sitting on top of the retaining wall, attached to the colorbond fence.

I'm looking for an experienced carpenter or fence builder to build and install a custom timber gate and matching timber fence surrounds for the side access of my home. I've attached a concept image showing the style I'm after. The image is for design inspiration only. Scope of work: - Supply and install a custom timber gate. - Build matching timber fence surrounds on both sides of the gate to connect between the existing brick fence and the house. - Construct everything square, level and suitable for exterior use. - Prepare the timber ready for painting (or advise if you recommend pre-priming). Dimensions: - Total opening (house wall to existing brick fence): 2900 mm - Finished height of the gate and adjoining timber fence panels: 2200 mm - Gate to have a gentle arched top matching the attached concept image. Materials: - Builder to supply all timber and structural materials. - I will supply the gate hardware, including: - Hinges - Handle/latch Existing conditions: - One side of the new structure will fix to the existing brick fence. - The other side will fix to the house. Looking for someone who: - Has experience building custom timber gates and fences. - Can show photos of similar work. - Can recommend the most suitable timber for longevity and stability. - Can ensure the gate swings smoothly and closes square. Please include: - Your quote (labour and materials, excluding hardware). - Estimated timeframe. - Photos of similar projects you've completed. I've attached a concept image that closely represents the finished look I'm aiming for.

Helping an elderly neighbour to slowly fix up their aging and weather damaged frontage. Looking for a carpenter/handyman to remove the existing narrow metal side gate and replace it with a simple, sturdy timber gate matching the basic cottage/picket style of the existing front fence. The priority is a quick, practical and cost-effective solution rather than elaborate custom joinery. Photos show the existing gate, passage and adjacent white timber fence. Scope: * Remove and dispose of existing metal gate if required. * Measure opening and fabricate/supply a timber gate to fit. * Simple vertical timber/picket construction, visually sympathetic to the existing white cottage fence. * Prefer treated pine or another economical exterior-grade timber. * Install suitable hinges and a straightforward latch. * Gate should swing freely, close securely and withstand normal outdoor exposure. * Ideally paint white to match the existing fence; alternatively quote separately for painting if cheaper for us to do ourselves. * Existing posts/walls may be used for fixing if suitable; please advise if an additional timber post is required. * No need to replace or modify the rest of the fence. Please quote an all-inclusive price for labour + material, and mention whether removal/disposal and painting are included. Happy for you to use standard off-the-shelf materials and keep the design simple to minimise cost. Timing: ASAP / flexible for someone who can fit it around another nearby job.
