Delivery Jobs in Redfern

For some people, delivery jobs are a handy side hustle, perfect for picking up extra cash during evenings or weekends. For others, they’re a steady source of income that offers variety and freedom, with tasks ranging from quick food drop-offs to multi-stop courier runs.

Whichever setup you prefer, delivery jobs are flexible and accessible, fitting easily around other commitments. Plus, you don’t need much specialised equipment to get started — just a car, van, bike, or even a good pair of walking shoes!

Finding delivery jobs is simple with Airtasker. Connect with locals who require things to be delivered quickly and carefully, and choose the tasks that suit your schedule, lifestyle, and rates the best. With such varied demand, you’ll certainly find that after completing a few jobs and earning positive reviews, opportunities grow naturally as long as you get the job done right.

Grocery and essentials runs

One of the easiest ways to start with delivery jobs is by picking up groceries, household items, or pharmacy prescriptions for people who can’t get to the shops themselves. These tasks often pay well for the time spent, especially if you can complete multiple deliveries in a single trip.

Having a reliable vehicle and a phone with a navigation app is essential. You’ll earn repeat clients by communicating clearly, double-checking orders, arriving at the pick-up point on time, and delivering the goods exactly as agreed upon. Simple gestures like placing cold items in an insulated bag can bring extra satisfaction to your customers, encouraging them to hire you again.

Furniture and bulky item deliveries

If you’ve got a ute, van, or trailer, furniture delivery jobs can be some of the most profitable on Airtasker. They typically involve transporting heavy items like couches, beds, dining tables, or other large household items. Because these tasks require strength, safe lifting, and sometimes the right gear, they generally pay more than smaller deliveries.

Invest in equipment like straps, blankets, and a trolley to help protect the furniture and make the job easier. You can also boost your earnings by offering extras, such as assembling items once they’re delivered. Customers really appreciate careful handling, and going the extra mile often leads to five-star reviews and repeat bookings.

Restaurant and takeaway deliveries

For those who prefer quick delivery jobs with fast turnaround, food delivery is a steady source of work. Most tasks involve picking up restaurant orders and dropping them off hot and fresh. They’re straightforward, can often be done on short notice, and don’t usually require a large vehicle. All you need is a car, scooter, or a bike for shorter runs.

It’s important to be quick, reliable, and communicative in order to land returning clients. Folks love knowing when to expect their meal, so be sure to keep them updated and aim to stay punctual. Using an insulated delivery bag helps keep food presentable and can get you glowing reviews and tips.

Document and parcel couriers

Some businesses regularly need assistance with delivering confidential documents or parcels. These tasks might involve securely dropping off legal documents, sending samples to partners, or picking up an online order for someone who can’t get to the store.

To find success in this type of gig, you’ll need to stay organised, handle items with care, meet strict delivery deadlines, and maintain clear communication with your customers. Attention to detail also matters, as clients want reassurance that their items will arrive on time and in the right hands.

Tips to increase your delivery earnings

To make the most of delivery jobs on Airtasker, staying punctual, presentable, and professional goes a long way. Keep your vehicle clean, well-maintained, and stocked with essentials like straps, blankets, and a trolley. Make sure your phone is fully charged before heading out so you can stay connected throughout the job.

Aim to deliver a little more than expected, adding small touches that make you stand out. You can also leverage these opportunities to upsell, such as offering furniture assembly or assisting with unpacking after a grocery run.
