About Our Business & Scope of Work Our company is an education consultancy that assists international students with study, work and migration opportunities in Australia. Students often pay us a lump sum covering tuition, visa fees, OSHC, translations, administration and other third-party costs. These funds are not our revenue and are held temporarily before being paid to schools, insurers or government agencies. Our income comes from education commissions, insurance commissions, visa consultation and professional service fees. Sometimes students pay schools directly and we invoice the school for our commission. We require assistance with a complete Xero setup that reflects this business model. Scope of Work Review and configure the Xero file, company settings, GST and financial year. Create an appropriate Chart of Accounts with liability/clearing accounts for student funds and separate income accounts for commissions and service fees. Design workflows for receiving student payments, allocating funds, paying suppliers and recognising income only when earned. Set up contacts for students, schools, universities, insurers, suppliers and referral partners. Create invoice templates for students (tuition, visa, insurance, translations and admin fees) and commission invoices for schools and insurers. Configure supplier bills, payment allocation, bank reconciliation rules and automation. Create tracking categories by student, education provider, country, counsellor and service type. Build management reports including P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, GST, outstanding commissions and student funds awaiting payment. Implement Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes, including payment reminders. Our objective is to build an efficient, scalable accounting system that accurately tracks student funds, commissions, liabilities and business profitability while providing reliable financial reporting.
