Hello, I am interested to start a co-operative for Bookkeepers and Tax-agents in Australia. Some of its features would be: 1) Will be member-owned (worker owned) and will provide bookkeeping and tax return services to clients nationwide. 2) Members will be bookkeepers and tax agents 3) Will start with 5-10 members and then grow slowly. Members will choose Board of Directors. 4) There might be a monthly membership fee for all members to pay which would cover admin and marketing costs. This can be decided between the members and advisor/solicitor. 5) Aim is to ensure that all members (of the co-operative) receive a share of the co-op revenue even when a particular member is not working on that particular client. 6) It will be a Distributing co-operative (annual profits distributed to members) 7) All co-op member will have 1 vote each, as per Government law. 8) Members will have limited liability 9) Aim is to benefit the professional bookkeepers and tax agents and community at large. If you are interested, let me know your experience level and your plan/idea about the coop formation, and how you think you can contribute. Based on your introduction, will select first member.(No actual work is required for this task, I am searching for the initial members now). Note: All members will need to contribute equally towards the establishment and solicitor fees in drafting the constitution/agreement.
