Hi, I’m looking for a qualified Australian lawyer (or someone experienced in consumer law) to provide urgent advice on a travel dispute. I booked a cruise package through MyCruises (Flight Centre) which included both flights and cruise. The total package cost was approximately $22,000. The flights (Qatar Airways) have now been cancelled due to the current Middle East situation. I’ve been advised: - I can receive a refund for the flights (~$2,200 per person), however the refund timeframe is 12–16 weeks - If I want to continue with the trip, I need to pay upfront for new flights, which are now significantly more expensive than the original flights - If I cancel the package, standard cancellation fees apply as per their terms and conditions My concern is that: - This is a package booking (not separate flights) - A key component of the package (flights) is no longer available - I do not have the financial capacity to pay for replacement flights upfront - The refund will not be received until well after my departure date (I leave in approximately 5 weeks) - Cancelling the package would result in significant fees, even though the issue is outside of my control This effectively means I am being forced to either: - Pay significantly more upfront to proceed, or - Cancel and incur penalties What I’m looking for: - Advice on my rights under Australian Consumer Law - Whether this situation could be considered a “major failure” - Whether the travel provider should be required to offer a reasonable alternative without requiring significant upfront payment - Whether applying cancellation fees in this situation is reasonable - What my best next step is (e.g. negotiation, complaint, ) I can provide booking documents and correspondence if needed Thank you

Currently been given a contract to work as a veterinarian in a mobile vet business.
