I’m developing an original children’s story and keepsake project and am looking for a traditional artist whose work feels naturally suited to the world I’m creating. The initial project is a collection of 12 small woodland illustrations, centred around a recurring baby rabbit alongside a small cast of woodland animals. The creative direction, compositions and individual scenes have already been developed, so I’m not looking for concept development or graphic design. Detailed visual references will be provided. I’m looking for someone who can faithfully translate these references into their own traditional hand using pencil and soft watercolour. The finished artwork should feel delicate, timeless and slightly imperfect — with visible pencil, translucent watercolour, gentle natural colours and plenty of untouched paper. I’m looking for the feeling of a beautiful old children’s storybook rather than highly polished digital artwork or generic nursery illustration. Traditional hand-drawn/painted final artwork only — no AI-generated final artwork. There is also the possibility of ongoing paid work for the right artist as the project gradually grows. I’d love to find someone I work well with who enjoys this kind of gentle, story-led illustration and may be interested in continuing with the project over time. Please include examples of your work, particularly traditional watercolour, pencil, woodland animals, botanical artwork or children’s illustration, and let me know a little about your process and whether you work traditionally on paper. I’ve attached one watermarked art-direction reference to give an indication of the scale, restraint and overall feeling I’m hoping to achieve. I’m looking for someone with a great eye for photography and design to help turn several years of holiday photos into beautiful printed photo books. My partner and I have had some fantastic trips over the past three years and accumulated thousands of photos. I’d love to create a book for each major trip, but I simply don’t have the time or patience to sort through them all myself! I’m looking for someone who can take ownership of the process, including: • Reviewing the photos and selecting the best images • Removing duplicates and weaker shots • Arranging the photos into a logical, generally chronological story • Creating a clean, contemporary photo-book design • Providing a digital proof for review and making reasonable changes • Helping organise printing and delivery in Australia The photos are currently stored in Google Photos. I’d like to start with one holiday as a trial. If we work well together, there are several more books to follow. When applying, please tell me a little about your photography/design experience, what photo-book service or software you recommend, and ideally provide examples of similar work. I’m based in Sydney, but the project can be completed remotely.
