Top Wedding Singers related questions

When hiring a wedding singer, request a demo. Ask if they have a band or a musician to accompany them (unless you’re hiring an a capella performer). It’s also good to ask if they have their own sound system and sound engineer, or if they will need you to book the one at the venue. Lastly, ask if they have a backup plan in case an emergency happens on your wedding day and they can’t perform.

It all depends on what you envision for your wedding - both the ceremony and the reception. You may want a soloist at the ceremony and a DJ for the reception, or have the singer (plus their band) perform during the entire event. Whichever you decide, make sure that the concerned musicians are available during those hours.

It depends. Some singers may provide their sound system and even their own tech personnel. Others may be dependent on the venue they’re performing at. Either way, it’s best to state this requirement or ask this directly after hiring a Tasker to sing at your wedding. This way, you avoid miscommunication and don’t end up without a mic and speakers on the day itself!

Yes, you can, as long as you are in what is considered a private event (your ceremony and reception). But, you cannot use this copyrighted music in a wedding video that will be shared on a public platform (e.g. your video studio’s public YouTube channel).

You might be able to, but it may depend on your location, wedding date, and venue. To book a choir to sing at your wedding, tap the “Post a task” button and fill out the task post like you usually would.

Ideally, a year before the day. Though you could book as early as 18 months in advance, 12 months prior is usually the most common time to book. But if you’ve only got less than a year to go before your wedding, no worries! The great thing about Airtasker is that you can quickly find nearby singers who may still be available on your wedding week, or you can even book them as surprise wedding singers on the big day.

What do wedding singers’ services include?

When you hire a wedding singer through Airtasker, you’ll get a reviewed and rated performer who can usually take on any song request and perform at any point in your marriage ceremony or reception. In general, you can expect the following inclusions when you book a Tasker to sing at your wedding:

Audio and video demos

Since the Tasker won’t be able to send anything but a quote through our website, they’ll usually prepare a demo file, send a link to a video, or even do a call with you and your partner. This demo will display their vocal range and tell you if their style fits the songs you have in mind for your big day.

Already have a song or repertoire in mind for your ceremony or reception? You can include this in your task post and ask potential Taskers to prepare demos of these songs.

Assistance with selecting music

Haven’t you got a setlist yet? No worries! Some wedding singers can help you come up with a list of wedding-worthy songs that fit your theme, their style, and maybe even your love story! Usually, a wedding singer will perform for two hours (around 36 songs) unless otherwise specified.

If you have any special requests, such as performing a song as a couple or having a beloved family member perform on stage with the wedding singer, you can add this to your task post. This is a great way to show off those years of piano lessons or surprise your partner with the voice lessons you’ve been taking!

Wedding theme song accompaniment

If the wedding you imagined includes acoustic singers, you can easily find acoustic or acapella performers through our platform. On the other hand, if you want a richer sound that you can take from the ceremony to the reception, some wedding singers may have a band as an inclusion. Just make sure to ask your Tasker or specify this in the task post. Otherwise, you may have to hire a separate band that your wedding singer will have to coordinate and rehearse with.

Sound System

Wedding singers are usually advised to provide their own sound system. This is convenient for them since sound engineers are already familiar with the equipment and sound when using it. Also, it means you won’t have to worry about booking the venue’s sound system.

Wedding singers will usually do a soundcheck before performing, either by themselves, with their sound engineer, or a tech specialist provided by you or the venue. Speakers acting up? Get your sound equipment repaired quickly with the help of a Tasker near you.

Usually, the wedding singer will be in charge of getting themselves to your venues, unless you need to fly them out to your destination wedding. If you need help getting everyone to the venue on time, tell them to book a driver through Airtasker
