Apple’s massive success in introducing its newest iPhone lineup, now including the foldable iPhone Duo, has sent pre-orders ballooning. Given the public’s positive response, launch day is expected to be as busy as ever, with customers who missed pre-orders now finding and hiring someone else to stand in line for them.
This trend is also evident on Airtasker, with an increasing number of posted tasks asking Taskers to arrive and line up very early, hours before the store opens. One Poster even asked a Tasker to line up at 3 or 4 am to secure a phone for $300. Another raised their budget to $700 for the same job, hoping to get their hands on the newest model.
These line-stander job requests come from across the US. A Poster in Los Angeles offered $120 to hold a spot for the new phone release, while one in Syracuse, New York, put up $400.
This is a small example of what Airtasker is used for: handing off a chore someone would rather not do themselves. If you’re trying to skip the long lines or willing to stand in one, you can find a Tasker to hold your place or browse live queuing tasks on Airtasker.
