What is the Sharing Economy Reporting Regime?
The Sharing Economy Reporting Regime (SERR) is a third-party reporting regime that requires electronic distribution platforms (like Airtasker) to report information about transactions on their platform to the Australian Tax Office (ATO).
The ATO states that SERR is intended to help create a level playing field across industries and provide transparency of the income independent contractors receive through the sharing economy.
What do these changes mean for me?
The introduction of SERR means that Airtasker is now required to collect and report certain information to the ATO, including income earned through the platform.
To find out more about what transactions are reportable under the SERR, visit the ATO website.
