Education on Community Guidelines

We’re all about our community. Without you, there’s no Airtasker. While at the end of the day, we are a business, the most important thing for us is ensuring our marketplace is reliable, safe and successful for everyone. If you have a great experience, you are more likely to come back and tell all your friends about it – and that reputation means more to us than anything else.

As our community grows every day, it’s important to us to make sure we all have a good time on Airtasker. That’s why we have our Community Guidelines, the values and standards of behaviour we expect everyone to follow.

We’re here to help resolve any issues should they arise. But we can’t do it alone. To help us help you, we ask for your cooperation by following our Community Guidelines.

Here are some essential reminders to ensure our users get the most out of our platform.

1. Publicly sharing private information

You can only share private contact information via private message after your offer has been accepted.

2. Unacceptable behaviour

Community is at the heart of what we do at Airtasker. Courtesy and mutual respect are essential. At Airtasker, we do not tolerate harassment, hatred or discrimination

On leaking tasks off the platform:

Whether during the offer stage or after you’ve been assigned a task, taking tasks off the Airtasker platform is not supported. Every Tasker should have a fair go when it comes to submitting an offer. Preventing another Tasker’s ability to do that creates an unfair environment.

Taking tasks off the platform may seem like you’re saving money on Tasker Service Fees; however, it will cost you more in the long run. When certain users don’t contribute to the shared costs of running the marketplace, the costs will have to increase overall for everyone else.

In addition, taking a task off the platform means a cancellation occurs. Repeatedly cancelling tasks may result in you gaining a poor star rating and profile reviews, impacting your ability to win work or post a task, or even getting your account suspended or banned.

3. Accountability and your reputation

To ensure a positive experience using the platform, our policies set out a range of important guardrails to protect that experience. As per our terms and conditions, you will be charged a Cancellation Fee if you cancel a task either after accepting it (as a Tasker) or after you’ve assigned it (as a Poster).

We have a team monitoring messages on the platform for your safety, and even when you think you’re being creative with your messages, we are aware when you try to take tasks off the platform. While this may appear like you’ll save on Tasker Service Fees, repeatedly cancelling tasks can lead to the suspension or banning of your account—no one wants that!

4. Identity on Airtasker

To help foster trust in the community, all members must have a profile photo and a legal name that accurately identifies them. Fake/miscellaneous photos and names are not permitted on the Airtasker platform. Members who do not have an accurate profile photo or name that meet these standards will be asked to update their details.

We hope strengthening our community will not only help you get more done but also help more Taskers unlock their full potential.

Thanks for helping us make Airtasker a more reliable marketplace.
