Important update for Taskers based in NSW, VIC and SA

As updated on 20th July 2021

The safety of our community is our highest priority. In light of recent government changes in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia, we encourage you to keep up to date with the current rules in your local government area. For NSW, VIC and SA, it is essential to stay at home as much as possible and only leave home for essential reasons. Where possible, look to complete tasks remotely, or reschedule to another time – you can reschedule within the task post or by contacting the Poster. If you’re unsure about whether you should proceed with a task, Airtasker advises you to not put yourself – or the community – at risk.

If you do leave home to complete an essential task, it’s important to follow all health and safety regulations, including wearing a mask. Guidelines vary state by state, so we’ve included some more information below as well as links to relevant government sites so you can find out more.

The situation in New South Wales is evolving quickly. Please be aware that strict stay at home rules apply until 31 July 2021.

In light of recent government restrictions, the below services cannot be provided to a residential premise:

  • Repairs
  • Maintenance
  • Cleaning
  • Construction

These services are only allowed if they are urgently required for health, safety and security, or if it is an emergency.

For Taskers in the Fairfield, Liverpool and Canterbury-Bankstown local government areas, please be aware that additional restrictions apply and you may only leave your LGA for work if you are an authorised worker.

The situation in Victoria is evolving quickly. Please be aware that strict stay at home rules are currently in place until 27 July 2021.

You may only leave home for work if you are considered an authorised worker. Please see the definition and list of authorised workers from the Victorian government.

From 6:00pm 20 July 2021, the SA Government has introduced Level 5 restrictions. This means there is a stay at home requirement, except for the following:

    • Care and compassion grounds
    • Essential work
    • Purchasing essential goods
    • Medical reasons including getting COVID tested or vaccinated.
    • Exercise with those in your household

For more information on what is permitted in SA, please see information from the SA Government and the latest COVID response.
