Learn more about Top Offers

What is a Top Offer?

Offers are now scored and ranked, with the highest one marked as the Top Offer. Our new offer ranking system has been designed with both Customers and Taskers in mind.

For Customers, it simplifies the process by ranking offers against a consistent criteria. This makes it easier to spot the Tasker who’s the best fit for the task and reduces decision paralysis.

For Taskers, it means you get assigned quicker, which can help with work scheduling. It also gives you clear goals to aim for to be ranked higher and recognised for great work.

Did you know?

Top Offers are around 2x more likely to get assigned.

How does the offer ranking system work?

The highest ranking offer is marked as the Top Offer. The rest of the offers are ranked in descending order.

Our offer ranking system is based on a sophisticated machine learning model that’s been trained on what offers Customers have chosen in the past and present, and is continuously learning.

Here are the factors (in no particular order) that our offer ranking system is based on:

Frequently Asked Questions

Will lower-priced offers automatically get ranked higher?

Price is just one of many factors in how offers are ranked. Unrealistically low offers won’t be ranked higher just for being cheap.

We recommend pricing competitively for the value you provide, but don’t undersell yourself.

The ranking system has been trained on all kinds of offers that Customers choose (including those at higher prices) so fair, well-valued offers still have a great chance of being ranked highly.

Will the same Tasker get selected as the Top Offer every time?

Not necessarily! Each task is looked at individually.

The ranking system compares all offers side-by-side and takes into account the above variables like ratings, experience in the task category, response rate, etc.

So while a Tasker might be chosen as the Top Offer on one task, they may not be the best fit on another. This way, every Tasker has a fair shot at being picked as the Top Offer.

Do new Taskers have a chance of being selected as the Top Offer?

Absolutely. The offer ranking system is designed to give everyone a fair chance, including new Taskers.

Since the system is built on past and current data, it includes offers made by Taskers who were brand new when they first got assigned.

To boost your chances as a new Tasker:

  • Make your profile stand out with a clear profile photo (of your face!), your relevant work experience, account verification and badges
  • Price your offers competitively to attract your first Customers and start building out your portfolio.
  • Make offers – lots of them! On average, new Taskers make at least 15 offers to win their first task. The key is making sure they’re quality offers.

Tips to reach Top Offer

As a Tasker:

  • Avoid cancelling tasks and just reschedule if you can.
  • Become a category expert by completing more tasks within the same category.
  • Get your account verified and collect as many badges as you can to showcase your qualifications.
  • Try to respond to Customers within 30 minutes of messaging.

In your offers:

  • Quote reasonable prices. Price fairly and accurately and explain to Customers what’s involved in completing the task. Some guidelines for pricing can be found here, but it’s up to you to decide with the Customer based on the scope of the task.
  • Let the Customer know what tools and equipment you have and the relevant skills you have for that task.
  • Be clear and specific as possible about what your availabilities are.
  • Be clear about the scope of your service and pricing.
  • Think of an offer as a job cover letter. A thoughtful offer that’s personalised to the Customer’s exact needs can go a long way.
  • Highlight your professionalism – avoid spelling mistakes, excessive emojis and details that aren’t relevant to the task at hand.

What’s coming next?

We’re continuously enhancing the learning model to make sure our offer ranking system delivers the best possible experience for both you and Customers.

We’re also working on a sorting feature where Customers can arrange offers based on preferences like pricing, timing, ratings or our offer ranking system.
