Get to know the Top Taskers for 2024!

Local services marketplace Airtasker has unveiled the top-performing Taskers across the country, revealing a new wave of Australian workers turning their backs on corporate industries and finding success using their skills in the flex economy.

Airtasker has crowned nine Top Taskers out of thousands of active users based on ratings and reviews from their completed tasks to recognise and reward their work. Taking out the nationwide award is 34-year-old Atesham Altif, who was rejected more than 250 times for Civil Engineering roles. He then turned to Airtasker and now earns more than $10,000 a month completing tasks that require one simple tool: a drill.

State-based winners include Jasmine (NSW), who used Airtasker to start her own decluttering business after quitting her corporate job of 17 years because she was missing out on family time, Emerson (VIC), who assembles pool tables on the side to give himself a mental break from his current full-time role as a social worker, while Claudia (WA) has joined forces with her carpenter boyfriend Jon, both working full-time on Airtasker, picking the jobs to suit their lifestyle.

“The labour force is changing, and people want the flexibility to choose when they want to work, be their own boss or earn more money outside of their careers to have financial freedom, keep up with the cost of living or save for big life events such as weddings, holidays or house deposits,” said Airtasker Founder and CEO Tim Fung.

“Taskers want to use the skills they have to help make the lives of Aussies better every day, from decluttering homes to building a trampoline, paving backyards, or digitally queuing for concert tickets,” said Mr Fung.

“People are making money in savvy ways, upskilling themselves to meet the growing demands on Airtasker, even becoming skilled professionals at very niche jobs like building pool tables.”

Australia’s Top Tasker of the Year: Atesham Altif

34-year-old Atesham Altif moved to Australia from Pakistan and dreamt of working in the Engineering world.

However, after three months and over 250 rejections, he asked why he couldn’t land his dream job as a qualified Civil Engineer. So Atesham brought his skills to Airtasker and now assembles anything with his drill.

From Webbers to trampolines and bedframes, he makes $10,000 a month and believes Airtasker has been a lifesaver.

NSW Top Tasker of the Year: Jasmine Njegovan

A single Mum, Jasmine Njegovan, dared to do what many don’t and left her stable 17-year-corporate career at Big W. She had no job to go to but was tired of working every Christmas holiday and missing out on valuable time with her family.

Looking for work, Jasmine found herself on Airtasker and soon realised she had an undiscovered skill: household decluttering. Fast-forward five years, and she has more than 150 clients, transforming their homes from mess to magic. Jasmine earns $5,000 per month.

VIC Top Tasker of the Year: Emerson Gomes

24-year-old Emerson Gomes was craving a mental break from his full-time job as a social worker. He jumped onto Airtasker and soon landed his first job assembling a pool table. Fast-forward four years, he now completes five pool tables per week, earning an extra $4,000 per month around his 9-5 job.

QLD Top Tasker of the Year: Andrew Edwards

A Brisbane mortgage broker by day, Andrew Edwards was keen to step away from his computer and earn extra income to put towards his upcoming wedding. The flowers alone were set to cost $7,000, and he wanted to see how much money he could earn on Airtasker.

From rubbish removal to deliveries and furniture assemblies, Andrew made $30,000 to help pay for his wedding and realised Airtasker could also help him and his wife go on their dream holiday.

WA Top Tasker of the Year: Claudia Gulliver

Heartbreak led 25-year-old Claudia Gulliver to move to the West Coast, where she set up her first Airtasker account in Perth. She realised her dream of working in the mines wasn’t going to come true and needed to earn money fast. She then started landing easy jobs on Airtasker.

Eventually, she found love again and joined forces with her carpenter boyfriend, Jon. They now both work full-time on Airtasker and for some months, they have been earning $10,000. She said she’s become quite handy, even mastering the skill of paving.

ACT Top Tasker of the Year: Adam Armstrong

From a relationship breakdown to losing his job, father of four Adam Armstrong needed to find flexible work—fast. He set up an Airtasker account and applied for jobs within his skill set, such as rubbish removal and deliveries.

As his confidence grew, so too did his scope of work. He’s now completing gardening and lawn care jobs, sometimes finishing up to 10 jobs per month to support his family and spend more quality time with them.

NT Top Tasker of the Year: Lincoln Marrable

A family man, Lincoln Marrable, wanted to support his family so they could enjoy life without dipping into their savings. Lincoln is a maintenance officer at an Aged Care Facility and quickly realised his skills are in demand in the Northern Territory.

He completes around 2-4 jobs per week, earning a minimum of $1500 per month. He says the money happily goes towards spoiling his kids in school holidays. Lincoln is an in-demand Tasker with a 4.9 rating and has completed over 250 jobs.

TAS Top Tasker of the Year: Bruno Cabral

A passionate removalist, Bruno loves helping out locals in Hobart. He’s been using Airtasker for the last five years and has even invested in his van to help residents move.

Bruno says the best part about his side hustle is he’s able to work his own hours and earns an extra $300 per week. Bruno averages about three jobs per week in addition to his full-time job.

All winners are awarded a verified Top Tasker badge to be displayed on their Airtasker profile, with their outstanding contributions easily identifiable by customers.
