Financial support may be available to manage the effects of COVID-19

The current Covid-19 health crisis has presented an immense challenge for all Australians. Here are details about the Airtasker Assistance package and a range of Government stimulus that may be available to Taskers.

Here are details about the Airtasker Assistance package and a range of Government stimulus that may be available to Taskers.

Airtasker Assistance Package

Why is this Airtasker Assistance Package helpful?

To support you through this trying time and in response to the Covid-19 health crisis, Airtasker is pleased to announce that we will be providing you with a once-off Airtasker Assistance Package.

The Airtasker Assistance Package is designed to help you to receive more income from the tasks you’ve completed on our platform. We hope that this financial boost will support you during this trying time and help you to bounce back quickly when this crisis ends.

What’s available with this once-offer Airtasker Assistance Package?

  • This Airtasker Assistance Package is based on a calculation equal to 50% of Service Fees charged on tasks that are both assigned and completed within Australia between 1 April 2020 and 28 April 2020 (inclusive).
  • The calculation applies to Service Fees only and excludes any other fees charged to third parties (for example fees paid in relation to Afterpay).

  • An “assigned” task means your offer has been accepted by the Poster.
  • A “completed” task means you have completed the task, requested the Poster to release the task funds and have received the task funds. 
  • The Airtasker Assistance Package will be automatically calculated by us and sent to you on 30 April 2020.  You can expect to receive the payment within 3-5 business days from this date.  You do not need to take any action to receive this payment.

Government Stimulus Support

Why is this Government stimulus helpful?

The Australian Government has announced measures to help businesses and workers who have been financially impacted by COVID-19.  This support includes payments to help individuals, who found themselves out of work, and businesses, who needed a boost to retain employees.

Coronavirus Supplement

The supplement is a temporary fortnightly $550 coronavirus supplement from 27 April 2020 if you’re getting an eligible payment.

The Government has expanded access: JobSeeker Payment and Youth Allowance JobSeeker criteria will provide payment access for permanent employees who are stood down or lose their employment; sole traders; the self-employed; casual workers; and contract workers who meet the income tests as a result of the Coronavirus. This could also include a person required to care for someone who is affected by the Coronavirus.

JobKeeper payment for employees

The JobKeeper payment helps businesses significantly impacted by the Coronavirus cover the costs of their employees’ wages, so more Australians can retain their jobs and continue to earn an income. Your employer will notify you if they intend to claim the fortnightly payment of $1,500 on your behalf.

The Australian Government is supporting Australian businesses to manage cash flow challenges and retain employees. Assistance includes cash flow support to businesses and temporary measures to provide relief for financially distressed businesses.
