Taking classes for her Bachelor of Arts (French major) she heard about Airtasker in a lecture about IT in society and looked it up straight away. Not only could she tap into the skills that she got from working in a cleaning agency but also help to save for holidays overseas.
Maddie has an excellent eye for detail and enjoys making a dirty place sparkle again. And for someone so young, she’s already taking control and carving out her own path to take her where she wants to be.
So why Airtasker?
“Before joining Airtasker, I was at Aldi as a check out person and also worked with a cleaning agency. I was getting pretty bored with the repetitive work at Aldi and I wanted to take a bit more control of how I earned money. So when I was at Uni and heard about Airtasker it just all clicked that with the extensive training I did with the cleaning agency could be applied to doing these house cleaning tasks on Airtasker too.
I’m still at Uni so every semester my schedule changes and it gets hard when you’re working for someone else to make it work, but by working for myself not only do I have the control and flexibility but also I can get more variety and choose to take on more or less depending on my workload.
The money that I’ve earned on Airtasker has helped me enjoy my holidays more when I went to Montreal and New York, and now I’m saving to go to Morocco. I also moved out of home recently, so I’ve got extra expenses that I need to cover nowadays.
So now that I’m already set up on Airtasker and because it’s so easy, I’ll be sticking with Airtasker for a while.
Tasker Snapshot
- House cleaning specialist
- Over 50 completed tasks since March 2017
- 4.9-star rating
- 100% Completion rate
I’ve also been on the flip side and posted a task before when I needed someone for dog grooming, projector mounting and also some gardening. It’s really helped me understand how Airtasker works by being on both sides of the platform and I’ve had a really good experience.
What tips would you give to others starting out on Airtasker?
When you make an offer you need to be really clear about what the task is, don’t be afraid to ask questions to confirm anything if you need to know more. In your comments, specify how long you’ll be there and also read the Poster’s past reviews because it will let you know if that’s someone you want to work with.
If you look at my profile you’ll see that my reviews are really good and that I have a 100% Completion Rate, which means that every task I’ve been assigned too, I’ve completed. I think this is where my past experience in customer service really shows because I’m very clear and set expectations and inclusions from the outstart.
What types of tasks do you enjoy?
I mainly do a lot of general cleaning including dusting, vacuuming and mopping for families and younger professionals. But some of my most memorable experiences go beyond just cleaning in some of the most beautiful homes in Sydney. I’ve had the most lovely time driving a young girl between school and her parent’s (separated) houses. There was another time that I needed to do a handwritten note for someone’s mother-in-law, it’s just so different.
When I do cleaning tasks, I always make sure to bring:
- A measuring cup
- A toothbrush to clean grout
- Dishwashing liquid
- Vinegar
- Bleach spray
- Vacuum
One last thing about me…
It’s probably not too surprising because of my degree but I’m trying to be fluent in French but I guess something that is a bit more out of the box is that I’m trying to learn how to snowboard. I also have a puppy (a Samoyed) and he’s the cutest!”
