What do ring doorbell installation services include?

Ring doorbell installation services include the necessary tasks to install your Ring doorbell, whether you need a replacement or it’s your first time to use one. Doorbell installers can do a Ring Video Doorbell Pro installation or a regular Ring installation. This service usually includes the following steps:

Removing the old doorbell

Your handyman starts the doorbell replacement by switching off your doorbell’s power at your home’s circuit breaker. They then proceed to dismantle your old doorbell by removing its faceplate and cutting the wires connected to the old doorbell’s switch or button. Although these wires are exposed, there is no chance of electric shock as the doorbell’s power has been switched off.

Mounting the Ring doorbell bracket

Your handyman then places your Ring doorbell’s included level on the doorbell bracket. The mounting bracket is positioned over the site of the old doorbell, with the wires going through the holes in the bracket’s center. They’ll ensure that the bracket is level, and marks the four corner holes of the bracket on the wall.

If the wall is wooden, the installer directly screws the bracket onto the wall. Suppose the mounting area is concrete, brick, or masonry, your handyman drills holes for the anchors included with your Ring doorbell. They push or hammer the anchors onto the wall, place the bracket on top, then secure the bracket with screws that go into the anchors.

Wiring the Ring doorbell

Once the bracket is mounted onto the wall, your handyman loops the two wires of your old doorbell to the two large screws on the front of the bracket. They ensure that the cables are looped tight under the screws, and don’t touch each other. If your chime is the digital type, your handyman puts in the Ring doorbell’s included electrical diode where appropriate.

Mounting the doorbell face

Your handyman then mounts the Ring doorbell’s fascia or faceplate onto the doorbell bracket. They push the front face onto the bracket and ensure it makes a tight and perfect seal to protect its inner workings from the elements and tampering. Your installer finishes the installation by fastening the two security screws on the bottom of the doorbell.

Testing the Ring doorbell

After finishing the installation, your doorbell installer tests the doorbell. Your handyman restores the power from your home’s circuit breaker. Additionally, they can check if the LED light on the button lights up and if the chime is working. Should the doorbell not work, your handyman can cut off power to the doorbell, disassemble it and repeat the installation until it works.
