Top Building & Construction related questions
It’s highly recommended that you find a builder who is experienced and skilled enough to get the job done. Not only will this save you from all the stress and hassle of overseeing the construction project, but it will also make sure that the process is done smoothly and correctly. Hiring a legitimate builder can assure you that your property is compliant with building industry codes and is safe and stable.
It depends on the size of your property, amount of personalisation, availability of the supplies and environment. In general, a custom-made property can be done in around nine months, while a production-built one can be completed in seven months. Make sure to talk to your Tasker about this and consider every factor that could affect the timeline of your construction project.
Not necessarily. Your Tasker is equipped with professional tools like hammers and nails, screws, saws, screwdrivers and many others. But if you have these tools on hand and prefer to use them, you can have that arranged with your Tasker. Simply inform them beforehand, so your Tasker knows which ones to bring.
You should look for their accreditations, licences and certifications. They should have a solid experience and portfolio as a builder, with an excellent success rate. Pay attention to the team the builder has. Each member should be experienced and well-coordinated. Make sure that they use high-quality materials and have top-notch workmanship. Ultimately, they should be able to meet your needs and preferences as a client.
It would be preferable if you already have a solid idea of what your property is for and what it would look like. But if you don’t, that’s okay. Before starting your construction project, your Tasker can guide you as you create and conceptualise your plan. They can show you pegs and inspirations, and from there, you would probably be able to come up with a concrete idea for your property.
It depends on your contract with your Tasker. But feel free to tell your Tasker anytime if you feel like you want to change, modify, alter or add something in terms of your property’s design. You and your Tasker may sit on it and discuss it before implementing the alterations. Always remember that before proceeding, the alterations should always be approved by both you and your Tasker.

What do builders’ services include?
Local builders can help you with your needs and concerns regarding constructing your home, office, business or any dream property! Here’s what you can expect from builders near you:
Conceptualisation and planning
Before general builders start your construction project, the first stage is to create your concept behind it and plan the blueprints, design and other essential elements. Feel free to plan precisely how you want to as your Tasker guides you to ensure everything is up-to-code and the design and structure are sound and stable. Once the construction plans and blueprints are ready, the next step would be obtaining building and construction permits. This may sound overwhelming, but your Tasker can help you get the right planning permission for your project.
Implementation and execution
Once all the necessary documents and planning are done, your Tasker can now start your construction project! This stage usually starts with clearing and excavating the land to remove boulders, trees or anything that stands in the way of your building. It can also mean demolishing an old property standing on your preferred space while following building regulations. Afterwards, they can proceed with pouring and curing the foundation. Framing comes next, and that includes installing wooden frames and steel beams.
When your property has been completely framed out, that’s where doing rough electrical and plumbing work comes in. A good builder will install the roof, vents, ductwork, heating, and cooling units and may even start paving your driveway and other outdoor spaces.
Finalisation and completion
The interior of your property is completed at this stage. General builders near you install insulation, drywall, ceilings and outlets. And once the interior walls are good to go, that’s when fixtures such as lighting, windows and doors are added. Renovating the bathroom and installing tubs, toilets, faucets, and sinks can also be a part of this phase. The final step in building services covers finishing touches, from installing your flooring and painting your walls to putting countertops in.
A construction project may leave a massive mess once it’s finished. Get someone to clean after the builders to make your property look more polished without you having to lift a finger!

Very personable and knowledgeable. Really needed a third man, but the two of them soldiered on heroically in marathon install. Very well done all-in-all. Only three blemishes: 1) Door not quite aligned. Have to push it to side (or slam) to get it to close. Minor. 2) Most of the roof skylights only held by a single screw, and spraying with hose dripped in (unrealistic for rain, but water under melting snow could leak in). Simple - even fumblefingers me can add screws! So, a trivial point. 3) Miscommunication on task. I mentioned a couple of times that I had the full shed kit with roof snow reinforcement option, and believed that was included in the task quote. Bad on me for not double-checking, but now I have to hire another team to put that in, so that’s my only real spot of disappointment. Beyond these, things look good. We’ll see how it stands up to first windstorm, thundershower, and blizzard!
