What does cardboard removal and recycling include?
Cardboard disposal is a popular service for businesses that process a lot of boxed deliveries or anyone who’s just moved house. Cardboard removal covers all the steps needed to pick up your cardboard and find it a new home - whether that’s with someone who wants a secondhand box, or a cardboard recycling facility. Here’s what you can expect from your service:
Step 1: Cardboard collection
Your cardboard removalist will confirm with you the amount and type of cardboard you need collected to ensure they bring along the right-sized vehicle. Most taskers will bring a ute or trailer for cardboard box removal, so will be able to collect a large volume of used cardboard, once it’s been broken down. Your removalist will arrange your cardboard collection for a time that suits you and will either collect your flattened boxes or break them down before loading them into their ute or trailer. Before they leave, your removalist will be careful to cover the load with a tarp and secure it with ratchets to protect the cardboard from the rain and ensure none of it blows away.
Step 2: Cardboard reuse
While you can recycle most cardboard, disposal isn’t ideal. It’s much better to reuse any cardboard boxes that are still in good condition. So, many cardboard removalists will carefully break down these boxes and store them. They may advertise your used boxes for a very low price and deliver them to a new buyer, who may use them for moving house.
Step 3: Cardboard recycling
Any cardboard that’s not reusable will be recycled, as long as it’s clean (no food stains) and dry (not been left outside in the rain). Cardboard recycling involves breaking the cardboard down so that it’s flat to save space. Your removalist will take it to the nearest facility that takes cardboard for recycling, whether it’s the local tip or a specialty recycling centre. Recycled cardboard is shredded and pulped, before adding water and chemicals that helps to break the fibres down further. Most recycled cardboard is used to make new cardboard boxes, but some of it is also used for chipboard cardboard and paperboard.

We have just moved house and have quite a lot of cardboard to remove now that we have unpacked. Too much to fit in the back of a car, but would easily fit in a small van.
