we have 1 VOIP nbr (service) with DID yearly @ $10 for incoming calls, and 2nd VOIP nbr with free national landline calls.
numbering plan to route calls to either voip service

mobile at $15/mth for $500 and 1Gb data, can double the $ for unlimited voice/sms 24x7 and 5gb; or half the $ for $200 voice+sms and 300Mb data.

if your mobile really just receives call, there are mobile plans for $30 starters with no expiry, so $30 can last you a year or more - works for my dad :)

hi saxon,

think nbn will be pricy compare to naked adsl.
adsl2 is good enough for home use, 2 movie stream, 1 voip call and 2 download concurrent, from experience.

i am budget concious and at home we have a adsl2+2 service voip router. with 3 normal handset coreless with master unit at the router, u wouldnt know its voip.

Hi guys - we'll get our total outgoings/ any contract commitments from our current provider Wed AM as point of comparison & then I'll assign. Thx for your patience.
You can get a stand alone VOIP adapter (say for $20). Some providers pre-configure them, saving you time setting it up.

You can just plug a standard handset to it, and use it normally for phone calls.
VOIP more benefit if you need to call interstate (avoiding STD charges) or overseas.

NBN prices and data plans pretty much on par with ADSL2 once you consider you won't have to pay for phone line charges, if choosing the VOIP option.

Hi all - thx for your comments & interest. At the 'day job' at the minute so will have a more detailed look this evening. Huy definitely in the NBN catchment but ADSL2 is fine I reckon. All - can you get VOIP with a handset or is it more like Skype over the computer. Handset is the preference for us. Again thx for your responses. Interesting point Ed re: bundles not always best. I will also get accurate costs of what we are currently paying this evening. Worst case I will assign on Wed. Cheers
