We have an issue with a bush turkey that is wrecking havoc at our place. We suck at catching it and don't have our licenses to drive it to somewhere nice in the bush where it can live. We don't think an Uber driver would be up for transporting a turkey to a new home, somehow.

We're looking for a superhero bush turkey catcher who can help us give it a better home than our garden.

Hi! I've chased birds around our family avary before haha. I'm experienced with animals and happy to assist. We have a wild turkey area where I live so happy to pick the little man up and introduce him to some fellow wild turkey mates. Cheers Vicky

I'd be more than happy to give it a go - money back if I don't get it. For some strange reason, I love bush turkeys. Don't judge me, i'm an avian addict; I own three birds and counting. Also, I'm an avid bush-walker and know plenty of great natural spots for the fella to fossick around. I'll bring 2-4 assistants (friends) with me, free of charge. I have a bunch of bird food and treats I could use as bait. It'll be like a kidnap-roadtrip-rescue movie, except with a turkey instead of liam neeson.

Invite bird families into your garden. Once you have some birds established (like miners or maggies) they will treat your garden as their garden and will chase intruders away.

Train birds to live in your garden by feeding with bird seed and having bird baths.

Other thing to do is hang up cds. They don't like their own reflection.....they think it is another male.

Other thing to do is to cover the nest it is building. It will be a mound somewhere. That will motivate them to go elsewhere.

You can get some chickens. They will chase them away. They are very territorial.

I think it is easier to dissuade them than it is to catch them. Good thing is they get rid of your weeds and leave a nice mound of dirt for your garden.

I also have a green laser ( good for 8km). They hate it when you point that at them
Rod, bush turkeys are protected; plus you'll never go to turkey heaven if you fell a fowl.
Does it need to be removed alive?

Hi Rod, yes it will need to be alive. We aren't looking to hire a turkey hitman.
How big is the yard ?
Not sure if bush turkey catching is in an uber drivers' skill set!

Maybe call your local vet (Dr Paws in Lane Cove are awesome), maybe call WIRES and the Possum catching people. I'm sure someone will have advice for you without having to drag some poor unsuspecting driver out.

Oops just read what you posted. Shame the council/WIRES can't offer anything
