My laptop won't turn on. It is a Sony Vaio VPCSB. It has been knocked and the screen remains black. Battery has been removed and tried to power it from adapter, this did not work. When you press the on switch it makes a sound as though it will start booting up but nothing happens. The only light on the computer is the battery light when the power cable is plugged in, this dies out after it is plugged in for a while.

I would ideally like it to be repaired. If it cannot be repaired I would like a quote on the recovery of the hard drive.

Thank you
Madis T.

Sony charged my mom 350 aud to change AC jack and that lasted maximum 6 months, while i got parts for 45 aud (that was including a new charged to) and it took me 25min to change it. Sony know how to ask...
Hi Nathan, I got about the same problem with my old Vaio, maybe it's better to ask the people at Sony Center to take a look at it.

However, as per your description, I don't think the hard drive needs any special treatment. You can do it with a $10 external enclosure and some screwdrivers. Or I can do it for you for less than $100.
I can recover the data off the hard drive i would recommend not trying to run it with the hard drive in it as constant power loss will make the hard drive harder to recover and maybe make it imposable
il try to bring my vaio charger with me
i can have a look, after 4pm today. just let me know
